"Shall we play a game?" Hee Hee I loved hearing that computer voice in the movie, "War Games" with Matthew Broderick. I remember he had to play "global thermal nuclear war" and BEAT the computer! Aaaack!!! Glad the world wasn't depending on me! LOL
Anywhooooo... Karen Knegten's "Anything but a Card" challenge was to make these adorable card holders and card box cover. I was at my shop when I took the picture and so I don't have any cards in them to show you how they work, but if you click HERE, you can see Karen's beautiful example.
I made mine to look bright and cheery as I was giving them to my daughter who always complains when we play card games that she can't hold them in her hand "like big people do". *smile* Well... now she can! This was just such a clever idea and... I bet some of the older crowd and those with arthritis would LOVE to have a set of these as well.
I used the Octopus from Gina's, "Just Keep Swimming" set and the sentiment was just TO appropriate. Hee Hee. I stamped him and colored him in with my Copic markers. Then I used the Copic Airbrush System to add "waves" to the bottom of each holder.
On the front I simply added colorful DP and used the word "Play" from Gina's, "Lazy Days of Summer".
The base for the holders was done using 4" X 4" chipboard pieces. Or in my case, coasters from a local bar that my sister manages. Ha! I can find craft items most anywhere I go and she handed me a big supply when I stopped to see their new building one day. SCORE!!
Wouldn't these make lovely stocking stuffers as well at Christmas? Never to late to start planning!!
Have a great day and I'll be back tomorrow! *smile*
