Book Buddies....

Hi everyone!! I'm so honored to be Guest Designing for Sherri Baldys My Besties today!!  Sherri's images won my heart from the very start.  They are just the cutest and so much fun to work with!!!  Today I got to play with "Bookworm" and I decided to make her for a sweet friend who I met SORT of through a book... a Filofax planner.  Does that count? LOL  I decided to go with an easel card layout.

I colored this cute Bestie with Copics and a ShinHan Touch Twin Brush marker.  Though it's a bit hard to see, I added some Crystal Lacquer to the glasses to make them shine!  I added some Tim Holtz Distressed Ink, "Antique Linen" around the edges before mounting her onto my card.

The papers I used were Teresa Collins, "Memories" which I couldn't resist using a "calendar" print for my background. ;-)

For my sentiment, I simply used a definition stamp and added it to the inside of my card raised up a bit with Pop Dots so as to hold the top of the card at an easel angle.

A few paper roses from Prima and a couple Marianne's Dies accent my card.  I added just a few self-adhesive pearls to the top for a bit more balance.

I am so happy to be designing for Sherri... she's not only SUPER talented, but as sweet as her images!!!  I'm sure you'll see many more of my designs using My Besties.  I mean, truly, can YOU resist them??? *wink*

Thanks for stopping by today and have a wonderful day!! *HUGS*

Stay Warm & Snuggle...

Hi everyone!!  Well, I'm back with another of those adorable images from The Paper Nest Store  This time I'm using, "Bedtime Ellie" in my design.  I couldn't even begin to resist that rolled up hair! Hee

Of course I colored my Ellie with Copic markers.  I used my Blender Pen a lot on this image.  After coloring her robe, I dotted it with the Blender Pen which, as you may know, removes color.  It gave me just the texture I was hoping for on the robe.  You may also know there are several ways to achieve "texture" on a Copic colored image such as... putting Blender Solution onto a dish rag and pressing it to your colored area.  LOVE that look as well.

After I colored Ellie I then roughed up the edges for a bit of a distressed look and added some Tim Holtz Distress ink, "Vintage Photo" as well.

My DP is from the Prima "Romance Novel" pack and the coordinating flowers.  LOVE that paper pack!!!  I added a bit of lace along the edge of my image and a simple cameo stick pin which I THINK might be from Websters Pages.

I really like how this turned out.  A bit muted but still with some beautiful color.  Oh yes... not only did I "dot" with my Blender Pen... I also dotted the bunny with different Copic colors to get texture on him as well.  ;-)

The Paper Nest images are so much fun and it seems she adds tons and tons more every week!!  Stop on over and check out all the fabulous Ellies along with even some the cute Owen images.

It's Friday!!!  Hope you can go out and enjoy the weather and that wherever you are, if you have the rain and thunderstorms you stay safe!! Thanks for stopping by, as always.  *HUGS*

MarkerPOP@ + Perfect Paper Crafting Blog Hop!

Hello everyone and welcome to the MarkerPOP! + Perfect Paper Crafting Blog Hop!!!

MarkerPOP! is the home of premium markers plus lots more!

Perfect Paper Crafting provides innovative tools, like the "Perfect Layers (tm)" border making tools/rulers, for all types of paper crafting.

Today we are teaming up to share some amazing projects using some of the awesome Perfect Paper Crafting Tools along with some of our favorite coloring tools from MarkerPOP.com.

If you are just joining us on the hop, you are going to want to start back at the beginning of the hop list which can be found at the end of this post!

My project today uses one of the cutest Saturated Canary images, "Princess Peanelope".  I used my Copic Sketch markers to color it along with a ShinHan Touch Twin Brush marker.  But, it also  included using the Perfect Tears Tool!  I admit I have used "tear tools" before, but this tool by Perfect Paper Crafting was soooo awesome to use!!  First, it comes with a water bottle which give you a way to add water to your paper which in turn makes it sooo much easier to tear!

When you first add water to the bottle, you will need to "plunge" the tip a bit to get the water flowing through.

Once you see a spot of water showing up on your paper, it's good to go.

Decide where you want to make your tear... lay your Perfect Tears Tool down and simply run the tip of the bottle down the rulers edge.  Now, I ran my down a few times because I REALLY wanted my tear to look more "ragged" to match my distressing on my image.  WOW... was I happy with how it came out!!!

It not only tore perfectly, it even raised the edge a bit after it dried and I LOVED that!!!  If you simply go down the edge of the tool a few times to dampen your paper, your tear will be much smoother.  Again, I really wanted the fibers to show and look ragged so I went down my paper 3-4 times.  Here's a close up of  how it looks.

LOVE, LOVE the end result!!!  I know you will love this tool and with the option adding a bit more water to it for a different look other than just a simple wavy tear, it just adds to the awesomeness of this tool compared to others.

And, of course, there are more than enough options as to which style of tear you want.  You MUST give this a try!!! :-)

I Found Filofax!!!!

Do you know me??? If you do... you KNOW I'm all about my colors!!! AND... PURPLE is the highest on the list!  Hee  And last week... I found FILOFAX!!!!  YES, that's it... YES it's PURPLE!!! Ok, well it's really called "Raspberry", but how much closer can you get?? :-P

So some of you may know about Filofax... it's a planner, organizer.  My question is... "WHY didn't you tell ME about them???!!!"  OMGosh when I stumbled across these yummy planners on Instagram I couldn't wait to grab my Macbook and BUY!!!

The good news..... I did so BEFORE Mother's Day!  Sooooo... when "what can I get you for Mother's Day, mom?" came along... woot!!! SCORE!! LOL  Let's just say hubby bought me a BIGGER purse... my son got me some fabby gel pens I wanted and my daughter grabbed up some to cute Swarovski pencils and paper for me!!!  Oh ya... I was one happy momma!!

So.. let ME share this delicious little treasure with YOU!  THIS is how it arrives... all boxed and pretty...

Now I got the Pocket Filofax which is a tad smaller than I anticipated and depending on where you purchase yours, sometimes they don't actually give you the size.  So I guess if you're new, I'd suggest you search a few sites.  My PAGES are approximately 4" X 3.5".  A bit small... but I have used planners before and I really thought this would be better since much larger use to be (in my opinion) way more weight than I wanted to carry.  And honestly... now... I DO believe next year I'll grab a Personal size.  Which is about the size of a 5" X 7".  Just head over to Instagram and search for #filofax... you'll be confused WITH me. LOL  But for now... I'm LOVING the creativity and fun in setting up my Filofax.

I noticed lots of people use Washi tape on their pages.  Easy enough.. I LOVE Washi tape and have more than enough!  First things first... I decided to find a way to carry some with me.  Then whenever I have a moment.. I can "play".  I used an old iTunes card to wrap my tape on.  This is perfect because my Filofax has slots for credit cards.  I would suggest trimming it down a bit first.  I didn't do that to my first card and though it fits... I do have to wiggle it a bit to get it in the slot because of the tape.  The others I did I trimmed a bit off first and they slide in and out easier.

Next... I made an old "find" in my desk.  A Buxton brand post it/flag holder in pink leather I had purchased many moons ago and forgot about.  It's small enough to just throw in my purse.

Now... the fun began!  I started planning my weeks.

Here is just a small sample of how much FUN I'm having with my new Filofax!  Of course, yours will be what YOU want and what you want to add in it.  It allows for financial information, addresses, notes, diary section, weekly calendar, etc.  I threw out a few sections I KNOW I won't use.

Here's a look at the inside were I have my Washi tape stored....

In the back, there is a clear pocket that you can add whatever you want to see easily.

And under that... there is a zippered compartment for change or stamps, whatever.

And if that's not enough... the whole "covering" around the back and front opens for an easy place to add tickets, money or receipts, etc.  I HAVE slid my iPhone 5 into the front part of that "wallet" area when I was just running a quick errand and it was perfect!!

Now I'm not saying it is the BEST organizer/planner out there... but I AM saying I fell in love with it and there are so many options, colors, sizes and FUN FUN inspiration on Instagram that I had no will power to keep from getting one for myself!  OMGosh... I almost forgot... one of the things that REALLY got to me... the leather pattern, if you look at my first pic of it.... actually resembled little hearts!! LOL Yep... it snagged me good!!!

I kid you not when I say there is a TON of bling, goodies and "stuff I DON'T need" for sale out there for these fab organizers.  So.. I'm going to start this little journey and see where it takes me.  Share my pages, my fun finds, and even show a few pics of others and how they use their Filofax.

Yes, I have an iPhone 5 with all the apps one could ever want to keep them organized.  And yes, I DO use it... now and then.  But I find that sometimes I forget to set the "alarm" reminder... or I enter  something and don't change the date.  And to be honest, I LIKE writing.  I LIKE putting a pen to paper.  Don't look at my writing on the pages above but, most of the time... I don't do to bad a job with my penmanship. Ha!

I hope I've peaked your interest just a bit and if you have a moment, stop by and see what other fun things I'm adding to my Filofax!!  NO.. I'm NOT an enabler.  ;-)  Have a great day!!!!

Play it again.... Steven????!!

Are you a music lover?  Do you like Blues or Jazz??  Well, I do! And I LOVE that my son decided to take saxophone lessons!!!  He's been a piano player for ten years and has played the clarinet for seven years so when he told me he wanted to be in Jazz Band at his high school last year, my husband and I were thrilled to go saxophone shopping! LOL But I admit, this year he's decided to play piano for Jazz Band and that's fine as well.  But I'm just happy he's continuing his sax lessons.  :-)

La La Land Crafts are some of my favorite images to color.  Not ONLY can you get adorable Saxophone Luka as a digi stamp, you can hop over to MarkerPOP! and get him in rubber as well!

I colored my Luka with Copic Sketch markers and mounted him to my card base using Pop Dots after cutting around him.  My musical paper is from the Carta Bella, "So Noted" paper pack.  I never miss an opportunity to buy a paper pack that has anything to do with music in it!!  My "vintaged" paper is from my older paper stash, sorry I can't remember the name.

I added some paper roses which I colored using some Heidi Swapp Color Shine "Mustard" and Mr. Huey's "Overdue Real Red".  These are some of my favorite mists for coloring flowers!! They dry nicely and are the perfect saturation every time!  A few rhinestones for "sax air" (ha!) was added behind my image as well as an SRM Sticker for the sentiment.

I created this card for one of my son's band directors, Mr. Stegemann, who, I admit, I give more than enough razzing to all school year long.  (I know, I know, those of you who know me can HARDLY believe I'd do such a thing, right? Bwahahaha! *wink*) Last week was "Teacher Appreciation Week" so I decided maybe... just maybe... poor ol' Stegemann deserved a bit of a thanks.  Last year I was part of the Band Boosters and this year my schedule just didn't allow for it.  I KNOW it takes a LOT of work, coordinating, and hours to get a marching band like ours to all the competitions, rehearsals and concerts all year long and I think Mr. Stegemann probably doesn't get near enough thanks for all he does.  Their other band director is Mr. Bartacheck and yes, I made him a little thank you as well.  I'll share that with you another day.  Together they are quite a team and through all the grumbling and whining and headaches, they make one hell of a band that our high school is VERY proud of!!  And yes, I'm biased!  It IS my alma mater as well.  Hee

I hope you find a little music in your heart that keeps you smiling and I hope that when you hear it you think of all the work and dedication the performer puts into it to get it just right for all to enjoy!

As always.. I thank you for stopping by and hope you have a fabulous Tuesday!!!  *HUGS*

CMC Challenge with Chelsea Le Designs

Happy Saturday everyone!!! I hope you're having a nice relaxing weekend.  I had to get up EXTRA early this morning to get my son to school.  He's heading to Kansas City with the Jazz Band to perform one last time this year.  Then.... off to Worlds of Fun, Crown Center, Arthur Bryants BBQ and the Jazz Museum!!  Fun fun!! I thought I might go along then I rethought... teens, coach bus, late night pizza party in rooms... nahhh.  I NEED my rest at my old age! LOL

This weeks' challenge at Color Me Creative is "Anything Goes with Coloring".  Always a fav since the sky's the limit!!  This week we used the fabulous Chelsea Le Designs images.  OMGosh her girls are so so darn cute!!! I love every one of them!! You'll want to make sure you enter the challenge for a chance to win FIVE of them!!!  Trust me, you to will love them al!!!

I stamped my image on Cryogen White card stock and colored her with my Copics.  I mounted her on my card using Pop Dots.  The patterned paper is from Carta Bella, "So Noted".  I added a few crystal buttons I found in my stash and put a tiny rhinestone in the middle of each that I colored with my Copics to match my design.  My butterflies were given to me long ago by a secret sister swap I was involved in.  I LOVE this fun package of all different shapes, sizes and patterns of butterflies and for the life of me I can't remember which swap it was from or who!  Sad, I know.  But if YOU sent them to me... thank you!!!! I LOVE them!!

That's it for me today.  I'm going to try to get some creating done in my Heidi Swapp Memory File Album and maybe even do a bit of Smash booking!!!  Have a super Saturday!!!  *HUGS*

Rockin with The Paper Nest....

Hi everyone!!! I'm so happy to be sharing my card with you all and truly appreciate Christine asking me to be a guest designer for her today!

Today I'm sharing an adorable image by the The Paper Nest.  This little cutie holds a special place in my heart as Christine drew it especially for my drummer daughter... "Rockin Emily"!!  And trust me... that she does!! Advil... take me away!! LOL  But seriously, she does fabulously after only two years of lessons.

My image was colored with Copics and I added a bit of Memento ink around the edges.  I mounted it with some Pop Dots to give my card a bit more dimension.  I have a few different designer papers here, some from my personal stash and another from BoBunny.

My adorable ribbon, which I can't seem to get enough of, is from the Paper Temptress.  Not sure if it's still available but I have tons so I'm set for a while! Ha!

I added a few paper roses to my card and the teal one is sprayed with some Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist.  I can't remember where my crystal flowers came from but I only had a few and thought they would be perfect here.

My card was created for my daughter's drum teacher.  She loves blues and purples together (a lady after my own heart) and that was my inspiration for my design.  I admittedly, didn't use the sentiments which came with my image but my daughter's teacher is always telling her this so I felt  it fit for me to just write it in.  Hope Christine will forgive me on that.  ;-)

There are so many adorable images at The Paper Nest and I've found myself looking through the store instead of getting busy with this write up.. hee.  So, when you've got time... so browse all the fab images and if you're like me, you'll fill your cart QUICKLY!!!!

Have a fabulous Friday and remember to *HUG* those you love today!!  Thanks again, Christine for allowing me to share my work.  *HUGS*

Paper Temptress Hops with Heartfelt Creations

Today  Paper Temptress's  Design Team is blog hopping with Heartfelt Creation's  Design Team members combining products from both Heartfelt Creation and Paper Temptress.

I used "Twining Roses" from Heartfelt Creations for my card today.  I colored it with my Copics then cut it out and added Pop Dots to the back to raise it up a bit off my card.  I also paired up my image with the "Garden Romance" die set.  I cut the "fence" three times an added it to the front of the archway.  I also used the little butterfly and bird from this set to add to my card.  My image was stamped on White Cryogen paper from the Paper Temptress as well as used on the fence.  I just love how Copics take to this paper and it is the ONLY one I use for all my Copic coloring.  And... as an added bonus, it has just a slight sparkle/glimmer to it which I adore!!!

Paper Temptress  is donating a $25.00 gift certificate and Heartfelt Creations is giving away  the whole new (and fabulous) Sun Kissed Fleur Collection so make sure you leave a comment on each of the PaperTemptress’s DT’s blog and a message on Heartfelt Creations blog to enter to win.  These are fabulous prizes so make sure you follow directions carefully! You could be one of the two winners.  Winner’s will be selected on May14th so be sure to check back to see if you won!

Hope you enjoy what both teams have designed for you.  Now head on over to your last top, the Paper Temptress Blog.
