Long Travels in Old Trucks.....

Today I'd like to share a card I did for the Outlawz Twisted Thursday Challenge.  This week our challenge to you is to use "wheels" in your design.   My card was created using Theresa Momber's, stamp set, "Country Roads"

If you're interested in how I colored my "rusty, old" truck, head on over to Color Me Creative and check out Suzanne Dean's Copic Coloring Class 5 where she covers "rust" and a lot of other cool techniques.

My card began with Pure Luxury Lemon Drop crad stock.  I added a layer of Kraft.  My image was stamped on White and colored with Copic markers.

It was my first attempt at coloring a "rust" image but I will say that after watching Suzanne's video she gives you plenty of confidence to at least give it a try.  It was a bit harder than I thought but I think mostly because my truck was a bit small to try this technique but I couldn't wait to try!!

I hope you check out the Outlawz challenge and share your design with us!  Thanks for stopping by and have a GREAT Thursday... I plan to!!! *HUGS*

The World is your Runway!

Today I'd like to share with you an adorable image from ChelseaLeDesign.  I found her on Etsy while searching for digital images.  OMGosh isn't she just sooo cute???   This is "Cammy in the Wind" and I just couldn't resist putting her in peach... so feminine!

I started with some Papertreyink paper, "Berry Sorbet"... LOVE this color!!  I added a little Fine Linen and then a layer of Melon Berry.  The overlay is from the Paper Temptress' site, from Hambly Studio

I colored my image with Copic markes and cut her out then added her using Pop Dots.  I added a few pearls and rhinestones in the flowers as well as around Cammy.  :-)

I cannot wait for Chelsea to come out with more images.  The few she has are just precious and so much fun to color!!!

Today is Wednesday and it looks like I'll be teaching my boss how to run my computer system and do payroll.  Ugh!  But I guess that's the price you have to pay when you decide to leave your job and there's no one else to train, right?  Hee  I'm anxious to see where my "new life" leads me and I am super excited to hopefully get back on track finishing up my "invention".  LOVE to have it ready come CHA time in Anaheim.  Wish me luck!!

Thanks for stopping by and I hope you have a great "hump day"... we're almost done with the week!!!!  *HUGS*

Summer Notes...

How about a little CAS design for a Friday??  I mean it's Friday!!!! The weekend can begin!!! Woot!!  Today I'm using the "Stippled Nature" set by Beth Silaika from Gina K Designs.  Simple, easy and fast.

My card base is Pure Luxury Grass Green card stock layered with a piece of DP from the (believe it or not), "Winter Whimsy" Patterned Paper Pack. I satmped my images on White using Vivid Inks.

I distressed the edges of the White layer a bit adding some Tim Holtz Distress Ink, "Vintage Photo" to the edges.  I added a bit of twine to my card and a button to finish it off.

So that's it today... clean, and simple.  Just like EVERY Friday should be! LOL I hope you have a great weekend planned!  I'm heading to Fort Dodge, Iowa with my son's high school marching band.  It's the first of their marching invitationals. It's a full day event!  We have to take three charter buses to carry the whole band, equipment and uniforms; including a large covered band trailer hauled by a pick up.  You'd think they were rock stars!!  But,  last year they took first place at this competition so I'm COUNTING on a good show this year too!!! This year's show is "The Piano Man" and includes a medley of Billy Joel songs which are soooo awesome!!  I'll be rockin on the sidelines for sure! LOL  Wish us luck!!

Have a fabulous weekend and thanks for stopping by! *HUGS*

Old Friends....

I'm feeling really FALLish lately!  I mean.. I'm sooo loving the cool weather and looking forward to seeing all the lovely trees change colors!  I wonder why I don't use Fall colors more often?  Is that silly?? I know, I know... every season has it's colors.  Ugh!  Well... I'm a HUGE color fan and I think we should be able to wear Fall colors in the Spring or Summer! Ha!  And maybe even WHITE shoes in the winter???!!!!! LMBO  Oh well.. I try.  Today I sharing two of Gina K Designs stamps sets.

My card base is Pure Luxury Tomato Soup with a layer of Honey Mustard.  I added some DP from the Sun-Kissed Autumn Patterned Paper Pack and then used a layer of Sweet Mango which I embossed using my Houndstooth Cuttlebug folder.  My tree, which I stamped with Memento Rich Cocoa, is from the last Stamp TV Kit, "Sun-Kissed Autumn".  I cut it out adhering with Pop Dots.  My leaves are from the Free with Three set, "Fall Foliage". I stamped them in what I wanted the main color to be then rolled the edges in another color.  On some of them I used my Memento Markers to add a bit of color here and there on the leaves.  LOVE LOVE the texture of these leaves!!!

So, I'm wondering... if you live on the east coast, are your leaves turning yet???  Ours don't normally until mid-October but I'm anxiously awaiting.  One of my FAVORITE trips was to Boston in the Fall and on the drive from the airport to Worcester, MA, I was soooo amazed at the lovely colors.  I think they are a bit different than here in the midwest and it was a huge highlight of the trip for me.  I mean, come on... it was a BUSINESS trip, how fun can THAT be anyway, right? Hee

Have a fabulous Thursday... I'm planning on it!  Thanks for stopping by!!! *HUGS*

Friendly Comfort...

Ahhhh... Tuesday!! I made it through Monday and today is my day off.  I love knowing that it's a day when I don't have to rush around to go anywhere except where I want to.  AND... sine it's a chilly 43 degrees outside, brrrrr... even better!!  Of course I did have to take my son to band practice early this morning but, I didn't have to get out of a warm bed to rush into the shower and get ready for work.  Yayy me!!

Today I am sharing a precious stamp from Elisabeth Bell's Storybook Collection, "All Better Now" from Susana's Custom Art and Card Design.  There are three others in this series and each one is just a darling as the next!

My card base is Papertreyink's, Aqua Mist layered with Summer Sunrise.  I added some DP from Echo Park.  I stamped my image on Cryogen White from the Paper Temptress and colored my image with my Copic markers and a few of the Touch Twin markers.  I hadn't really used the Touch Twin markers before except for a small "test" area I played with at the Winter CHA show but I really like the brush on these.  Seems a bit smaller and more controllable to me than the Copics but never fear... with all I have invested in my Copics, I won't be giving them up anytime soon.  If you'd like to give the Touch Twins a try, Susana has sets already put together that blend well for hair, skin and some basic colors which are popular HERE.  I used the "reddish brown" set for my image and really like the result I got from them.

I hope you have a great Tuesday!  I am planning on doing a bit of scrapbooking today.  I want to get started on some pages for my son's "graduation" books I'm doing for his high school years.  Of course, he's a sophomore now so I need to get those freshman memories in the book and be done with it before I end up in his senior year doing them all at once! UGH!

Thanks for stopping by and enjoy the fact that you made it past Monday!!! Woot!!  *HUGS*

Faith, Hope, Love...

Good morning everyone!!!  Well it's Monday again... and it seems some weeks we could all use a little more Faith, Hope and Love at the beginning of a week.  I know I sure can! ;-)

Today I'm sharing a card I create for the Color Me Creative site challenge... to use Fall colors... orange, rusts, golds and browns.  Perfect time of year for that, right?  I admit I love summer's warm weather just as much as the next but there's something pretty heart warming and beautiful about Fall.  The colors are gorgeous and just seeing the change of the leaves makes me smile.  And I admit, there's even something tantalizing about the little nip of cold in the air.

My card base is from Papertreyink, Orange Zest.  I layered on some True Black and then some Summer Sunrise.  My image was printed on Copic Xpress paper and colored with my Copic markers.  I added a bit of copper threading to the top of my card to finish it off.

I hope you join in on the beauty of the Fall colors on our challenge.  Our sponsor for the challenge is Bugaboo Digi Stamps and one lucky winner will receive 7 digis of their choice from Bugaboo!  Get busy and post your cards HERE

Thanks for stopping by and have a great week!!!  *HUGS*

Mix it Up!!!

Good morning everyone!!!  Today I am so excited to share a mixed media project with you I created for the Mix It Up - Mixed Media/Altered Art Group over on the Color Me Creative site!  This week Marti Wills challenged us to use acrylic paint somewhere on our project. Well... THAT I did!!!

I took an old paint brush and covered it in acrylic paint.  I added a few flowers, bling and a wrinkled ribbon bow.

I used Tami Mayberry's set, "Ticket Trio" to add a couple little sentiments.

I LOVE doing this and plan to do a lot more for gifts.  This one is for my baby sister.  It was her birthday the other day and she has been one busy bee so I'm running this over a bit late.  I know it will go perfect with her "new" office she redecorated at her house.

I hope you stop over at the CMC site and join us in our Acrylic Challenge.  It doesn't have to be a 3D project... a card or scrapbook page will even do!  Make sure you stop by often and play... there will be prizes to come as well!!

My Dream Christmas...

Well now.... come on... surely you KNEW, if you now me at all, I'd have purple Christmas trees, right?? ;-)  Nothing says Christmas to me without a bit of purple here and there in MY house!  The trees from the Labor Day duo, "Merry Tree",  from Gina K Designs are just PERFECT for YOUR dream trees too... no matter what the color be!

My card base is Pure Luxury Heavy Base Weight White layered with ALL the gorgeous purples in the Pure Luxury line... Vibrant Violet, Wild Lilac and Lovely Lavender.  Yummy!!!

I stamped my trees using Vivid Purple and Lavender inks.  My middle front tree was cut out and I used Pop Dots to lift it up for a little dimension to the card.

A very easy CAS design but I love it!!!  ;-)

To be honest... I am ALREADY planning for Christmas and doing a bit of my shopping.. ugh!  NOT that I want to.. but I really don't need to be stressed over that this year.  I have "other" things going on and I don't want my holiday to be ruined because I'm to busy with them.  KWIM???

I hope you have a fabulous Friday!!!  The weekend is here!!!  I'm going to spend Saturday cleaning and more than likely being the wicket witch of the house when I make them ALL kick in and help.  Hee Hee  Thanks for stopping by and have a good day!!! *HUGS*

Homecoming Gown....

It's a chilly, rainy day here in Iowa... my FAVORITE kind of day!!!  Reminds me of football, which reminds me of my son playing at the games with his high school marching band, which in turn reminds me of homecoming at the schools!!  :-)  My card was created for the CMC challenge to use yellows and for an optional twist, you can use Kraft card stock on your project too.  The challenge ends tomorrow so there's still time to enter HERE

My image today is from Patty's Creations, an Esy store with adorable images. This Vintage Wedding Dress just really reminded me of the cute dresses the girls wear these days to homecoming dances.

My card begins with Pure Luxury Wild Dandelion.  I layered on some Kraft and then used a Hambly Studio Overlay from the Paper Temptress.  LOVED using these as I'd never tried them before.  Definitely going to try again!

My image was colored with Copic markersand I used Cryogen White card stock, also from the Paper Temptress for my image.  Not only does it take Copics well, it has a tiny bit of glimmer to it and I LOVE LOVE using this with my Copics and for an even more feminine card, it just rocks!!!  A litlte ribbon and flowers and my card is finished!!

I hope you stop by the Color Me Creative site and join in on our challenges.  There is a new challenge bil-monthly and prizes are given!!!  So be sure to join us for our next challenge... and THIS one if you have time!!

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day!!! *HUGS*

Sunshine of Fall....

Please take a moment to remember those who lost their lives 11 years ago in the Twin Towers.  Pray for their families... a loved one can NEVER be replaced and it can certainly only feel worse when it's something so unexpected and senseless.  May their pain be eased a tiny bit knowing the country cares and we will "NEVER forget".

This weekend I had lots of running to do but I managed to get ONE card done.  Oy!  Hate when that happens and I HAD other plans.  Oh well... what's a mom to do? Hee

Today I'm sharing the card I did using the latest Stamp TV Kit, "Sun-kissed Autumn".  There are a couple little "burst-like" flowers in the set and I decided to use one as my "sun".  :-)

My card began with some of the Pure Luxury "Sun-kissed" card stock pack, specifically Honey Mustard. I grabbed some Sweet Mango and misted it with water then crumpled it up in my hand.  I smoothed it out and adhered it to my base.  My image is stamped on White using Memento inks.  I double stamped the leaves in two colors for a bit more texture to the image.  I distressed the edges and added some Tim Holtz Distress Ink, Vintage Photo.  A little bling and ribbon finished off my card.  Perfect for my dear hubby... when I feel he needs a little "pick-me-up".  ;-)

Thanks for stopping by today and hopefully tomorrow I can share something I created using my new Silhouette Cameo machine!!!!  Eeeeek!!!  I was so excited when it arrived last week but sadly something was wrong with my blade and they had to replace it for me.  *sniff*  But... it's here!!!  Wish me luck and check back tomorrow to see if I get it going this time!!  *HUGS*

Sweetness...

Happy Saturday!  I'm planning cleaning today so I thought I'd share a simple one layer card that was quick and easy.  Yeah... somehow I don't think my cleaning day will go that well.  Oy! ;-)

I used Melanie Muenchinger's latest set, "Basket Additions 3" for my card bordered with one of Gina K's sets, "Lacy Borders" (one of my FAVS!!!).  I used my Copic markers to color the little candy pieces.

My daughter loves candy and I also know that anything wrapped in pretty papers and colors will definitely be in my shopping card in no time! Ha!

Have a great weekend and I hope you're not doing chores all day! Go create!!! *HUGS*

He's Just Grand!

Today I'd like to share a card with you I made for a past Outlawz Challenge.  The challenge was to use "music" in some way on your card.  This was especially fun for me because my children and I all play piano and Tami Mayberry's set, "Grand Tags" will forever be one of my favorites because we also have a baby grand piano and I'd been hoping and and wishing for a set like this!!  ;-)

My card also uses one of Gina K's fabulous technique video's the "Pillow Top Background".  I used a "softer" touch than Gina did because I really didn't want it to look totally like a pillow but just a slight tracing of it.  I also used a lighter ink so as to keep it a little less noticeable.. but still add some texture.

My card base is Pure Luxury Pumpkin Spice.  I added a layer of Sweet Mango and some Memento Desert Sand ink which was sponged on according to the technique above.  I stamped my image on a piece of card stock from my stash and added some copper threading and a few Copper Nail Heads for accent.  My image was raised using Pop Dots

Thanks for stopping by two and I hope you enjoy youro Friday!  The weekend is upon us!!! Woot!!!  *HUGS*

For a Special Diva...

Today I'd like to share a card with you I made for one of the Color Me Creative Challenges a few weeks back.  My image was from Milk Coffee Digital Images called Tiffany in her Night Dress

The challenge was to use black on at least 40% of the image.  I thought Tiffany's dress was perfect for black!

My card base is Pure Luxury Black Onyx layered with some Red Hot.  My DP is from Stamp TV under the "Freebies" tab... "Basic Wardrobe".  I love how it reminds me of fishnet stockings.  :-)  I colored my image with Copic markers and used a stamp from the "Lacy Borders" set from Gina K Designs.  A few flourishes and a few Prima flowers finish off my card.

Have you played along with the challenges over at Color Me Creative???  We have a new one every two weeks and some awesome sponsors offering up some awesome prizes!  There's still time to enter the current challenge... to use Fall colors.  Our sponsor this time is Bugaboo stamps!  Be sure and stop by and enter your creativity to the challenge!!!

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day!! *HUGS*
