Gina K Designs April Inspiration Hop Day 2

The Design Team for Gina K. Designs welcomes you to another fabulous Inspiration Blog Hop!!! Gina and the Design Team will inspire you with many beautiful ideas! And as you hop through their blogs, make sure to leave a comment on each of them because we will choose a few random comments and those stampers will each win a grab bag of deeply etched, pre-cut Gina K. Designs stamps! To see the full list of winners check the Big News forum at Stamp TV a couple of days after the hops!!

I decided to go for a "manly" card design using Tami's set as it's something I struggle with and I know lots of others do as well.  I have come to realize lot of men really like vintage and I think that's because it looks a bit rugged and worn, I think. LOL  I mean, I'm certainly NOT an expert on what ANY man likes. LOL  Just ask the two males in my house!!  Ha!  I started my card with Pure Luxury Kraft card stock.  I added on a layer of Chocolate Brown and then some of that fabulous designer paper from the "Wishing You Joy" patterned paper pack.  I added another strip of the Kraft paper and did a bit of distressing along the edges and then more patterned paper from the "Casual Friday" pack. I stamped the "note card" image and used Tim Holtz Distress Ink, Antique Linen, along the edges.  I used another of Tami's sets, "Happy Hearts" and stamped it on some Bubble Gum Pink card stock.  I cut it out using a heart punch and added more Chocolate Brown and a lacey heart punch.  A bit of twin and some Pop Dots to adhere my image to the front finish off my card.

This is the card I "sneak peaked" for the Release Party Invitation.  My sweet friend, Pat St. Martin shared a fabulous tutorial with me on how to create this layout which I just adore and know I'll definitely use again.  HERE is a link to her tutorial if you're interested in creating this unique card design.  I used Pure Luxury Red Hot, Grass Green and Lemon Drop on my card.  I stamped the strawberries on White and colored with my Copic markers.  I used the Spellbinders Nestabilities Labels 8 to cut out the image.  I sponged some Memento Ladybug Red around the edges.  My DP on the front is also cut using a larger Labels 8 die and is from the Patterned Paper Pack, "Petals & Wings", my sentiment on the inside is from the new One free with Three, "One in a Million" and the DP is from the "Red Carpet" paper pack.

Here's a look if you flip UP the strawberries front...

A Little One on One...

How did you like the Gina K Release Party being held during the day??? It seemed we had a lot more people than I expected.  So that just tells me... WOW, a LOT of us are home during the day, huh? LOL  Seems I heard lots of ladies saying how peaceful it was during the day with their kiddos gone to school, no one yelling for dinner, etc.  All in all... I think it went fab!!!

Today I am sharing with you the card I created for the first Challenge during the party... A Little One on One.  That's right... you can only have ONE layer... and ONE embellishment.  Now I have to admit, more people that I had expected commented they thought it was doable!! Woot!! That means they are willing and I LOVE when everyone wants to at least try!!

My card was created using Gina's "Lacy Borders".... I LOVE this set!! I know I could have used it on every card I created but I decided SOME restraint was needed. Hee  My card base is Pure Luxury Heavy Base Weight White.  LOVE this heavier weight for single layer cards.  Just makes the seem more rich and substantial.  I stamped the one layer of lace in Vivid Ink, Lemon Ice.  Next I layered on another of the lace images using Memento, Tuxedo Black.  Really like the look of the layered lace stamps!  Next I added a lacy flower from my stash and a simple sentiment.

If you'd like to join the challenge, just link your card to Stamp TV and add the tag, gkdapr12tg when you upload.

Please upload your entries by Monday, Apr. 30th at 7PM CST. We will announce a randomly chosen winner from all of the entries who will win a Grab Bag of fabulous Gina K Design Stamps!!

Thanks for stopping by today and have a fabulous Saturday!! *HUGS*

Gina K Designs April Inspiration Hop

The Design Team for Gina K. Designs welcomes you to another fabulous Inspiration Blog Hop!!! Gina and the Design Team will inspire you with many beautiful ideas! And as you hop through their blogs, make sure to leave a comment on each of them because we will choose a few random comments and those stampers will each win a grab bag of deeply etched, pre-cut Gina K. Designs stamps! To see the full list of winners check the Big News forum at Stamp TV a couple of days after the hops!!

OMGosh my very FAVORITE part of this cute basket topper is the adorable puppy!!!  Awwwww he's so so cute with that big patch around his eye.  Hee  Once again Melanie outdid herself with more basket toppers!!  My card began with Pure Luxury Turquoise Sea layered with some Lemon Drop.  I stamped my basket on White and used my Copic markers to color  it in.  I stamped the topper and colored and cut it out.  My ruffle was stamped onto some DP and added under the topper.  I tried to go neutral (except for the blue doggie) so that I could use this card for either a boy or girl.

I combined Theresa's "Sweet Strawberries" set with the Lacey Borders to make this tag.  Perfect for giving on a gift of homemade strawberry jam, right???  :-)  I colored the strawberries with Copic markers and cut them out using my circle Nestabilities.  I added a layer of Grass Green cut using the Scalloped Circle Nesties.  I added the lace stamps before using Tim Holtz Distress Ink in Antique Linen around the border of the tag.  Now... if our strawberries only turn out half as lovely as Theresa's... who knows who'll get this tag.  ;-)

Now check out all the amazing designs and inspiration:

Enjoy the rest of the hop and thanks for stopping by!!  Have a GREAT Friday and we'll see you back on Monday with even more inspiration using the new stamps from Gina K.  *HUGS*

Dream Big!!!!

Happy Wednesday!!  Middle of the week and for ME, that means only one day of work and the weekend begins!!!  Oh ya... I'm dreaming... dreaming big and so is this adorable Marci Ballerina from La-La Land Crafts.  I just love her and I think I've seen her done in just about every color imaginable but I'm not so sure I've ever seen her done in a black tutu.  :-)  So.. now I have! Ha!  Ohhhh!!! And speaking of La-La Land Crafts... have you seen the newest Marci and Luka images??? OMGosh... can you say FABUlous!!!  HERE's a link if you wanna go see for yourself.  I take no responsibility for what you "check out" with though.  Ha Ha!  Oh yes... I put my order in too.  Good luck!!! *evil grin*

I began my card with a Pure Luxury Black Onyx card base and added on a layer of Bubblegum Pink.  I added yet more Black Onyx.  My corner tabs are from the Echo Park Be Mine collection.  I wanted a castle in the background of my "stage" and didn't have a large enough stamp so I took a look at the Magnolia Stamps castle and drew my own using my Sakura Stardust Pure Glitter pen.

My ballerina was stamped on white and colored with my Copic markers before I cut her out and adhered her using Pop Dots.  I purchased my lace/bling from Hobby Lobby and I can't be sure because I threw the packaging away long ago but I believe they are from Prima.

I can't wait for my new La-La Land stamps to arrive but in the mean time, I HAVE been stamping with some new rubber... yep... it's Gina K Designs Release time and tomorrow is the day!! So stop back by and be ready for chat with the DT from 11:00 AM - 1:00 PM.  Lots of fun and sneak peaks on the way!!!  Hope to see you then!!!

Thanks for stopping by and enjoy your mid-week!  *HUGS*

Tag It....

You know I'm busy with new stamps and getting ready for yet another fabulous Gina K Designs Release Party when I start showing creations I made long ago but hadn't had a chance to post on my blog before.  Hee Hee This tag was created using Melanie Muenchinger's set, "Stately Flowers 1".

I colored my flowers with my Copics and added some "lucky find" self-adhesive stars to the bottom.  Woot!  How convenient, huh?  :-)  Now this would have been a PERFECT tag had I had this set back when I lived in Dallas.  But even so... I still have a love for the big ol state!

And I couldn't stop there without showcasing MY state... Iowa! LOL  I used Melanie's set, "Make a State-Ment".

I stamped map on a piece of DP from my stash.  I stamped the arrow from the pack pointing right at Iowa!  Oh Yay! ;-)  The cute little ears of corn I also found on a piece of DP in my scrap stash and cut out just the little ears.  Another perfect find!  I added some Glimmer Mist to this tag prior to adding the images.

Melanie's sets are so perfect for sending gifts to far away places and a tag is a perfect way to showcase your home town!

One more day... then... GINA K RELEASE PARTY!!! WOOT WOOT!!!  Remember this month's Release Party will be held mid-day from 11:00 AM - 1:00 PM... a new twist for Gina K.  Hop in if you can and check out some of the design teams' samples and chat a bit.  Remember there will be challenges and videos as always!  Hope to see you there!!!

Thanks for stopping by today and have a happy Tuesday!!! *HUGS*

Name That Tune!!!!

Today I am sharing yet another of those adorable images from Hop Art Designs from Hambo Stamps called, "Bella Ballerina".  Now you'd think I have a daughter who takes ballet, but honestly, I don't.  Infact, my daughter DID take dance and was in a Technique class which included "some" ballet... she hated it!  And, sadly, she quit dance because of it.  BUT... it appears, she will be taking up dance again this fall.  NOT ballet, mind you but hip hop and tap.  When I was coloring this sweet girl I couldn't help but think of the expense that goes into the recital costumes.  Ugh!  I do NOT miss that.  The great thing is... YOU can buy this adorable girl for such a small amount AND the proceeds from your purchase will go towards Operation Write Home.  Though we are pulling out from the war, there are still many of our soldiers who are away from home and who truly enjoy being able to write home and with your help, many stampers offer cards to send out to them so that they can do so.  Asela Hopkins has drawn such adorable images and you can find them all at Hambo Stamps.

I designed this card for the Outlawz Greetings Challenge to create something that is inspired by song.  It's a bit sappy but everytime I watch my daughter perform... whether it was at her dance recital and more recently, at her school Chorus performance and Band performance, I get a little teary eyed and think of Stevie Wonder's song, "Isn't She Lovely".  Ya... that's the mom in me.  *sniff sniff*

I started out with one of my favorite colors in the Pure Luxury card stock line, "Wild Dandelion".  I added a layer of Grass Green and Vibrant Violet.  My DP is from the Best Creation's, "A Walk In the Garden"... one of my newest favorite DP packs!  It's kinda hard to see but this paper pack has glittered pieces included in it as well and on this particular piece.

I colored my image with Copic markers and cut it out.  Before adhering it to my card I added a half of a 4" paper doily and then some Prima rhinestone flourishes.  My image has Pop Dots under it to add more dimension to the card.  I added some Stickles, Stardust, to the bottom of her tutu.

I hope you join us over on the Outlawz Challenge site to join in on our "Song" challenge.  We post a new challenge every Monday and as always offer prizes to our winner!!

Thanks for stopping by today and have a great Monday!!! *HUGS*

A Flower of a Different Color...

Today I am sharing a card I was asked to design for someone I recently met to give to his girlfriend for their anniversary.  I believe it was their first anniversary but you all know how my old brain works (or doesn't) these days. Hee  Anyway... he informed me she had recently fallen in love with hydrangeas.  Cool!! I LOVE these flowers!!  But... when I was trying to decide what COLOR to make them I was stuck.  Well duhhh... I didn't think to ask which SHE preferred.  But you all also know how much "I" love purple!!!  Soooo... yep... you guessed it... she got a purple one.  And I threw in a couple blue just for good measure.

But seriously... have you LOOKED at hydrangeas??? Do you realize how MANY DIFFERENT colors they come in??? I decided to see what I would come up with if I just did a search for them on Google.  Maybe it would show more of one color than another and well... sure... THAT would be what I'd use.  Oy vey!!! Even Google can't decide!! LOL  So I decided to go with the ones that I see most often and that, my friends, is why I decided on two colors.  Oh ya... and that simple thing called.. "what Tina loves!"... PURPLE!!  LOL

My card base is Pure Luxury Vibrant Violet.  I added some Fresh Asparagus for a bit of contrast and then layered it up with more Violet and some of that fabulous Gina K Patterned Paper Pack, "Parisian Garden"... love these papers!!!  My image is stamped on white and I cut it out before applying it with Pop Dots.  I added a paper doily for a little more dimension and some Prima Pearls to the mix before adding my ribbon and bow treatment.

I REALLY enjoyed coloring this bunch of flowers but I must say now I have the urge to do even more of them in ALL the colors that hydrangeas grow in.  They remind me of lilac bushes.  Oy... yet another flower I can smear with purples.. hee!

I hope you are having a great Saturday and that your weekend is a relaxing one... Lord knows I sure need it!!  Thanks for stopping by and have a great day!! *HUGS*

Daisy's Due & Pooh!!!

Today I am quite honored and happy to share with you a sweet digi image from Hop Art Designs & Hambo Stamps.  My dear friend, Asela Hopkins, drew this adorable image and a few others you might want to check out.  ;-)  All proceeds from the sale of these digis will benefit Operation Write Home and will be an on-going benefit with money collected helping OWH with postage and supplies.  Asela shared one of her images with me awhile back and I was more than happy to help promote them with the proceeds helping such a fabulous organization.

I chose to use Daisy's Due first as I simply LOVE Winnie the Pooh and Asela had included one of his quotes in this set.  Doesn't Pooh just say the most wonderful things??  :-)

I started with a Navy card stock and added some Mustard to the mix from SU.  My DP is from Authentique Paper Pad - Genuine.  I colored my image with Copic markers and added a bit of Tim Holtz Distress Inks, Scattered Straw around the edges.  A few Prima flowers finish off my card.

If you've had a friend or relative in the service, you know how important it is to them to hear from home and Operation Write Home is a fabulous organization who has been keeping soldiers in touch with their loved ones.  I hope you check out the Hop Art Designs and add a few to your card.  Sometimes it takes "just a little" to make someone's day a whole lot brighter.

Thanks for stopping by and I hope you are having a wonderful beginning to your weekend!  *HUGS*

Grandma's Night Out...

It's been a long time since I created this sweet little granny but I never had a chance to post it on my blog.  This fun image is from I Brake For Stamps, Humorous Seniors, "Bunco Betty"

I started my card with Pure Luxury Little Boy Blue and layered it with some Black Onyx.  I added a few of the DP's from the Gina K Patterned Paper Packs, Casual Friday.  My image was stamped on white and I used my Copic markers to color it in.  I added a few flowers and Prima black swirls to the mix the adhered the image with Pop Dots.

Just a little reminder, if you like the I Brake For Stamps images, you can grab the code from my sidebar and get a 10% discount on your order!!!

I hope you have a great Wednesday!!  It's halfway over and that can't be a bad thing!!  Hee

Thanks for stopping by!  *HUGS*

Shades of Yellow...

Do you love yellow??? I do and I was more than happy to create this lovely yellow flower from Tiffany Doodles for the latest Color Me Creative Challenge.  I have to admit... when I picked out the image I wanted to color, I had totally forgotten I NEEDED to use yellow for the challenge... if I had remembered, I KNOW I would have used a much larger flower.  But even so, the mushrooms were also colored with a yellow Copic so I guess ultimately, there's more yellow than meets the eye.  :-)

My card began with Pure Luxury Lemon Drop card stock.  I added a layer of DP that I found in my stash along with a few strips of some Tim Holtz Idea-ology Tissue Tape... love that stuff!

My image is colored with Copic markers and I added a bit of Tim Holtz Distress Ink, Antique Linen, around the edges to tone down the white.  A little ribbon and Websters Sparkler finish off my card.

Hop on over to CMC and join in on the challenge!  Who knows, you could be our next guest designer!!!

Have a great day and thanks for stopping by!  *HUGS*

Don't Stress... DISTRESS... but I DID!!!

I sure did at that!!!  Soooo... there I sat... at the piano... relaxing (keyword), practicing, even being goofy about how I was playing.  Basically... having a nice RELAXING evening.  Then my cell phone dings... Oh! a text... wonder who that is.  HOLY MOTHER OF PEARL!!!!!  Yep... I totally forgot about today's Outlawz Challenge to "Don't Stress... Distress"!!!!  Let the STRESS begin!!!

LOL  Fortunately... the stamping world is full of fabulous ladies, a lot who I've become great friends with and yep... sure enough... the one who sent me the text came through with a helping hand.  *deep breath*  But still... in 4th gear I went... trying to get this little sweet card done.  Oh for sure it is a simple and easy card... but I definitely had paper, ribbon and Copics flying as I pushed on to at least get the card done.  My dear friend posted the challenge FOR ME as it was MY turn to put the challenge up.  Thank you sweet, Anary, for jumping in and covering me.

I'm sure you all know how to do a quick and easy layout but I'm going to let you know how mine came together.  First... I ALWAYS keep a supply of stamped images on hand.  Whether they be rubber stamped or digi's, I keep a stash for when I travel and want to take some along to color or for times like this.  My cute image is a Mo's Digital Pencil image, "On the Pot Girl".  Hee Hee  I just HAD to have her!!  :-)

I started with some Pure Luxury Lemon Drop card stock and added some Bubble Gum Pink to layer under my Echo Park, "Be Mine" DP.  I colored my image with my Copics and distressed the edges.  I added a bit of Tim Holtz Distress Ink, Tattered Rose, to the edges of the image before mounting it with Pop Dots.

Not bad, I don't think, for a quick 10 minute card.  Though I suspect I COULD have done better had I NOT been relaxing... DISTRESS is always better.  Hee Hee

Have a great day and join us on the Outlawz Challenge site.  Thanks for stopping by!  *HUGS*

Well... Will You????

I am sooooo TOTALLY in love with these adorable Saturated Canary images.  These cuties are "Ivy the Nerd" and "Smitty".  Hee Hee  You can buy them separately or as a set, which is what I did.  I love the open invitation... could have an inside sentiment of... "be my valentine".... "be my gal"... "be my guy"... "tutor me"???  Just anything.  ;-)

I started with Pure Luxury Vibrant Violet card stock.  I layered it with some Little Boy Blue and then some of the Gina K Designs Patterned Paper Pack, "Parisian Garden" and "Pool Side".  Gina's paper packs are wonderful to use... they each have so many different prints and it seems I can always find exactly what I need for every card I design... great variety!  I colored my image with my Copic markers on white and mounted it on my card with Pop Dots.  A little ribbon and a Websters Sparkler and my card is ready for just about any occasion.

I hope you are enjoying your Friday.  It's MY favorite day of the week because I know the weekend is coming!!!  We will be busy tomorrow at my son's high school... the band is hosting the state solo ensemble competitions and it seems I'll be working the concession stand and whatever else they need help with.  It's also my mom's birthday so I'll have to figure out something to get for her.  She will be at their lake home so I have extra time before they come back on Sunday.

After my husband gets home Sunday morning we plan to do some driving (as if he doesn't get enough every night... hee hee) all over the state.  He has a plan to hit all the "virtual" geocaches in the state.  I think there's a challenge badge and he's all about getting his badges. LOL  Neither myself or the kids have gone in a while... winter is not our favorite time to geocache... so these should be fun and easy.  No digging through pine trees or walking thru waist high weeds.  Ugh!  But a road trip is always fun so we'll play along this week.  :-)

As always, thanks for stopping by and be sure you stop in tomorrow too as I'll be sharing the new challenge over at Color Me Creative.  Have a great day!! *HUGS*

The Design Team for Gina K. Designs welcomes you to a fun Take Flight blog hop. For this hop we will showcase the Petals & Wings StampTV Kit with the central theme being "Take Flight". The DT Members have all used a wide variety of Gina K. Designs stamps in this set to inspire you to get inky too! Come play along with the Current Challenges at Stamp TV!!!

If you came from Suzanne Dean's blog, then you're right where you should be. If not, please go to Stamp TV  where you will find a list of all those participating.

Here's the card I designed....

My card began with the newest Pure Luxury card stock, Jelly Bean Green.... I LOVE the knew shade of green!!  I layered it with some Lemon Drop and then some Sweet Mango.  I added two of the papers from the Patterned Paper Pack of the same name, Petals & Wings, and layered it again with more Jelly Bean Green.  My image was stamped on White and colored with my Copic markers.  I cut the image out using my Nestabilities Labels 16 which coordinates with the stamp set.  I added a little flourish and used Pop Dots to raise my image for some dimension.

Now hop on over to Vicki Dutcher's blog for more Gina K. goodness!!!

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day!!! *HUGS*

Sweetness to a Brother....

While I was creating the other day, Emily came up and asked if I would make her brother a card because she "needs to be nice to him more often".  Yep.. her words.  She knows she's a pain in the patootey to her brother quite often and as I was trying to get as much accomplished as I could, I KNEW I couldn't say no to her request.  Not that often she truly stops and performs "random acts of kindness", if you know what I mean.  Ha!

Tami Mayberry's last Gina K Designs set, "Masculine Tags" was perfect for just the card.  And quite honestly, I can so see the stamp I used from the set on THIS card as a perfect "angel" card for a woman or girl as well.  Of course, Tami is right on in her sentiments for this being a masculine design.  Men really dig a simple image as opposed to us women with our frills, lace, flowers and such. Hee

My card begins with Pure Luxury card stock.  I added some Soft Sand card stock and layered on some DP from the Gina K Designs Patterned Paper Pack, Pool Side.  I stamped my image on white using Tim Holtz Disress Ink, "Faded Jeans".  I used Pop Dots to add some dimension to the stamped tag.

I hope my daughter likes her card but even more... I hope my son will treasure the small act of kindness she is offering.  (Trust me... they don't happen enough. LOL)

Thanks for stopping by today and enjoy your Wednesday!!! *HUGS*
