Work it Girl.....

My pal, Cheryl and I recently joined the Planet Fitness gym and have been meeting up on my days off to "work out" together.  Well... I have to say first... I'm feeling a little prejudice going on with that there gym.... hee hee.  Cheryl got a BLACK t-shirt when she signed up and me... well... I ended up with a white one!  You see, Cheryl joined the program that allowed her to 1) tan and 2) use the massage machines.  Pffft.  Needless to say... I DON'T need a tan... and if you ask me... I go there to work out, get sore muscles and well.. NOT for a massage!!!  So THERE, Cheryl!! LOL  But regardless of the practices of the gym, I decided to send my pal a little "pick-me-up".  Cheryl won't be able to meet up with me today because of a prior engagement so I'll miss her but... wanted to let her know I'm there... doing the grind!  Hee

My image is from the I Brake For Stamps, Humorous Seniors, "No Pain No Gain Gladys".  OMGosh I KNOW I can't get into THAT position.  Well... at least not get UP from that position!! LMBO

My card base is Pure Luxury Black Onyx layered with Wild Dandelion and Vibrant Violet.  I stamped my image on White and colored with my Copics.  I used my Oval Nestabilities to cut out my image and mounted it with Pop Dots to give my card some dimension.  My sentiment and the little tennis shoes I stamped to attach to my bow are from the Just Rite stamp set, "Just Keep Calm".  The die cut is from Susana's Custom Art & Card Designs, Memory Box Dies, "Elegant Scrollwork".

I was sent a couple Marvy Uchida markers to try out and give my opinion on from my supplier and those are listed with the Copics I used.  I must say they blended beautifully with the Copics and I had no issues with bleed over the stamped image either.  I liked the colors and the brush tip but wasn't happy that they aren't refillable.  But... on the other hand I really liked the rich colors and they are a cheaper alternative to the Copics with much the same results.  I also was impressed with the many colors available though not as many as the Copics but in reality you don't need all the Copics to achieve all that you would want to color with.  Overall, I would definitely recommend the Marvy Uchida permanent alcohol markers to anyone wanting to try their hand with alcohol makers at a much cheaper cost than Copics.

Emily's First Copic Image...

I am always so excited to consider even for a moment that I inspire my kids in any way.  I mean, I KNOW that kids look up to their parents and that sometimes they try to emulate them.  But... I never get use to the fact that MY kids do this with me. LOL  Ya I know... crazy, I suppose.  But I think it comes from not having enough confidence in what I DO to think my kids would even consider trying it LOL  Anyway.... Emily, apparently, has been "watching" and honestly, I think actually LEARNING!!!

She asked if she could use my Copics to color an image and make a card while I was doing the same.

FIRST, let me say this to you who own Copics and think.. OMGOSH why would anyone let their children use their Copics??? Well... if you KNOW Copics, you know the tips cannot be damaged by schmooshing (is that a word? LOL) or even bending them over completely.  So... I feel rather confident in letting my ten year old try her hand with them.  :-)

Emily chose a Gilli image.. Balloon Gilli.  I LOVE how she tried to copy the balloons showing through each other and she OBVIOUSLY saw me use darker colors around the edges of my images because she certainly tried to do that with the dress.  :-)

And a close up... because I didn't see it until I posted... she even gave her cute  blushed cheeks.  Good job!!!

I DID create the bow for her when she asked how I tied them.  But overall, I'm pretty impressed with the job she did and I "think" I MAY be leading her in the right direction on how to color with Copics.  :-)

Princess Glinda...

Are you a good witch or a bad witch?  Hee Hee  ME?? Well.. I prefer to be the good witch cause I'm a HUGE Wizard of Oz fan and I have to say... Glinda is my FAV part of the whole show!! LOL  My image is Glinda, of course, a digi from the Saturated Canary.  I LOVE ALL her images... so fun to color!!!

My card begins with a Pure Luxury Blue Raspberry card stock.  I layered on some Lemon Drop and some DP from Echo Park.  I printed my image on White and colored it with Copic markers.  I used my Nestabilities Labels 21 and again using it on the blue and yellow card stock as well.

I'm not really happy with how the bottom part of this dress came out, but that just gives me another reason to give it another shot, right? LOL  Maybe it's the color I used, I'm not sure but keep an eye open 'cause you'll be seeing her again and hopefully soon.  Hee

The Colors of Easter....

Happy Tuesday everyone!!!!  Today I am sharing a card I created for the Outlawz Greetings Challenge group.  Our challenge this week is to use Pastels.  What better way to put those colors to work than on a soft Easter card???  And I admit, this has been one of my favorite cards I've done recently.  LOVE LOVE LOVE those big eyes and bowed legs.. hee hee.

My card base is Pure Luxury Bubblegum Pink layered with Lemon Drop and some of that awesome Eastery DP from Gina K Patterned Paper Pack, "Petals & Wings" (can't get enough of this design!).  My image was colored with Copic markers.  I used a few Pop Dots to give my card a little dimension and added some pink twine to finish it off.

I hope you are having a great start to a new week and that if you have "little ones", you remember that Easter Sunday is this week.  Eeeeeek... I think I gotta find that Easter Bunny myself soon!! :-)

Celebrate Spring!!!!

Awwwww I just love this little prince.... Just wanna pinch his cheeks!!  Later tonight over on Color Me Creative, the DT will be sharing a new challenge... Everything Spring!!  And I admit... I am loving the EARLY Spring we are having here in Iowa!!!

My card today uses one of those adorable, Baby Edwin, Magnolias from the new Princes &  Princesses stamps.  I also paired him up with Melanie Muenchinger's, "A Year of Borders" to add a "field" of flowers for Edwin to play in.  Hee Hee

My card started with Pure Luxury Heavy Base Weight White card stock.  I added a layer of Baby Blue and then some Layering weight White again.  I stamped the flowers and colored them with my Copics.  Then I colored Edwin and cut him out and adhered him to the flower bed.  He originally has stars around him that he is reaching for but I drew some flower stems and added a few flowers I cut from another stamped image of the flower border and added them to the stems and put them in his little hand.  :-)

He certainly brings Spring to mind in those pretty blues and yellows.

Loving All Things Purple!!!

Are you surprised??? Well, if you know me, you should know I LOVE LOVE LOVE me some purple!!!  And though you might see certain flowers and think of them in shades of red or yellow... yep... I've probably colored them purple!! That's just how I roll!! Woot!! ;-)  So today's card is just that... another bundle of flowers I decided rocked out in purple!!

My lovely flowers are from Gina K Designs latest Stamp TV Kit, "Petals & Wings".  Of course I don't know what KIND of flowers they are... that's not important to me.  What IS important is they look mahhhhvelous in PURPLE!!  Ha!

My card starts with Pure Luxury Accents, Key Lime, card stock.  I added a layer of Wild Lilac and topped it off with some of that TOTALLY AWESOME Gina K Patterned Paper Pack, Parisian Garden!!!  My image was colored with Copic markers and I used my Circle Nestabilities to cut it out.  I used the Key Lime again to add a larger Circle then the Wild Lilac to cut out the Lacey Circle.  My favorite purple bling, a sentiment and some ribbon to match and oh yayyyyy it's MY kind of card!!

I hope you are having a fabulous week and that your days are full of bright flowers... yes even purple ones!!  It's sooo refreshing to see all the wonderful Spring flowers coming up already all over town!  I'm afraid a local Dutch city is not happy the tulips are blooming already as they have the Annual Tulip Festival set for April and they just can't seem to keep them from rising up from their beds.  Oh well... I'd much rather see them early than have to see more of that white "stuff" on the ground!!
