My Middle School Grad….Gift.

 

 

 

Today I wanted to share with you a small gift I made for my son, Steven, on his “graduation” from Middle School.  I wanted to give him something other than just “another card”… something that he might keep with him.  (If you knew my son, you’d know how sentimental he is and he’s HUGE on saving things that mean a lot to him. Here’s hoping this will be one of those.  *smile*)

I looked at Gina K’s newest Stamp TV Kit, “Vintage Chic”, and realized how much I LOVE all the sentiments in it!!  Have you read them??? How encouraging they are!!!  I knew this was the right set for just what I wanted.

Above are all the tags I made on a ring for him to keep them together.  I used lots of different DP’s from Echo Park A Walk In the Park, Echo Park Springtime, Pink Paislee Butterfly Garden and of course, the awesome DP from the Stamp TV kit!  I kept them all pretty basic because well… I didn’t think “girlie” flowers and lace would be much appreciated by him or dad. Ha!

I hope these will inspire him when he needs it and for the record… yep, I snuck ONE flowery one in there… just a touch of mom.   

Oh and FYI… he had the biggest smile after he read them all and a simple.. “Thanks, mom.” was enough to let me know he REALLY liked them.  But more than that… I am so very very proud of all he has accomplished in Middle School.  He’s starting his 9th year of piano lessons… auditioned for piano guild every year…. aced, I don’t know how many, recitals…. on his 5th year of clarinet and this year learned to play electric guitar.  When we went to the “recognition” ceremony I began crying before the thing even started!!!  As I opened the program I (like all moms) looked for his name in the list of students.  There beside it was a “mark”.  I looked for the key and found Steven was receiving the Presidential Award for Educational Excellence!  Yep…. the tears started and they just got worse as the program began. LOL  My dad was down at my parents’ lake house in Missouri (mom made the trip up for the ceremony) and I called to tell him.  I could hardly get it out of my mouth without choking up.  He has made me one VERY proud mom and I know he will continue to do so.  At the ceremony the Vice Principal whispered to him, “I need to talk to you.”.  So… on his last day of school, (the day after the ceremony was their student amusement park day) he went into her office to see what she wanted.  Her words… “I just wanted to tell you I know I will be reading about you some day.  You are going to make something of yourself and I just wanted to tell you proud I am of you.”.  He was pretty impressed that she took the time to say such things to him and I was grateful for educators like her.

Birthday Vase

 

Today I’d like to share another card I created using Theresa Momber’s newest set, “Vogue Vases”.  Love, love, love this set!!!

 

I used Pure Luxury Turquoise Sea card stock for my base.  I added a layer of Black Onyx and my image is stamped on White.  I stamped the vase in Versamark and heat embossed it using teal embossing powder.  I stamped the flowers in Memento Tuxedo Black and stamped them again so that I could cut just the flowers out after I colored them with my Copic markers and mounted them with a Pop Dot.  My sentiment is stamped with Vivid Aqua ink.  I added some of the awesome thin ribbon that comes in the Stamp TV Kit, Vintage Chic, to finish off my card.

A Little More Bling

 

 

 

I’m a little late today with getting my post up but I admit, I am TRYING to recoup from the hectic schedule I had this last week.  Seems the last week of school should not only be easy and relaxing for the kids, but for us parents too and it’s not!!!  I think I MIGHT get a rest now that it’s finally ALL over and there are no after school parties or…. special days at the local amusement park “just for the school”.  Ugh! But then… I do remember all those fun days when I was younger… oh so long ago.   So alas, I DO have a new card to share using Melanie Muenchinger’s newest set, “Border Bling”.  I LOVE this new set and in fact I am heading to my studio right after I finish this and plan to pick it up first to start playing even more!!

 

My card today started with Pure Luxury In the Navy and I layered on some Little Boy Blue then added a layer of White.  I used the tiny stars in Melanie’s set to create my own background DP using Memento Sky Blue ink.  My image was stamped in a white ink so I could see the “bling dots” then I used Diamond Stickles to follow along.  I stamped the sentiment in Versamark and heat embossed it in white embossing powder.  I added a “sparkly” ric rack to the bottom (hard to see the sparkle, but it’s there) and then found some awesome puffy star ribbon I had in my stash, so I cut them up and added them to the corners.  It was hard to take a photo with the all the bling, but in real life, I LOVE how this card came out!

Another Day with the Stamp TV Kit–Vintage Chic

Happy Friday!!! Yayyyy… it’s been such a busy week for me that I’m going to start celebrating “Friday” now!!!!  *phewwww*  I’m not going to say “I’m glad this week is over”, because my grandma use to tell me, “Tina, never wish your life away.”.  So I’m just going to say… I hope next week goes smoother! LOL  In the meantime, I think this card I made using the new Stamp TV Kit, Vintage Chic, says it all…. “enjoy the ride”. 

I started my card using Pure Luxury Moonlit Fog card stock.  I layered on Black Onyx and then some of that awesome new DP that comes in the Stamp TV Kit.  I added a smaller piece of the Moonlit Fog and more of another DP (also in the kit) before adding my image which I stamped on White using Memento Tuxedo Black.  I added the white brads in the upper corner and also a couple of the black on each side of the sentiment (These TOO are in the kit!!!!  You’re sooo gonna love all the goodies in this set!!).

Stamp TV Kit, Vintage Chic….. 


There are so many FABULOUS images in this set!!!  You definitely will see more posts from me using this set over and over, I’m sure of that!! 
My card today started with Pure Luxury Black Onyx.  I layered on some White and then some of that awesome DP that comes in the Stamp TV Kit! Again… so much yummy DP included in this set!!!  If you haven’t ordered, what are you waiting for???  I stamped my image with Versamark and used Ranger’s Rich Red embossing powder to heat emboss.  I used my Oval Nestabilities and Scalloped Oval Nestie in Black Onyx to mount my image.  I stamped my sentiment in Vivid, Brick Red, ink and cut it out using my Ribbon Tags 2 Nestie and cut the ribbon ends off.  I used Memento London Fog ink to sponge on the tag before removing it.

Gina K Designs May Inspirational Hop–Day 3

Can you believe it’s Wednesday already??? Long weekends make for such quick weeks!! And, here we are hopping along again today to share even more inspiration using the newest stamp sets from Gina K Designs.  I hope you are enjoying all the gorgeous yummies the Design Team members are sharing… I sure am!!

 

Our first set up today is the new “Free with Three” set, “Elegant Elements”….

I shared this card at the Release Party last week and so LOVE the circle elements in the kit!!  I started with Pure Luxury Heavy Base Weight White card stock and stamped my circles in Memento inks.  I cut them out using my Circle Nestabilites and mounted them using Pop dots.  My image was stamped on the layering weight card stock and I used my Copic markers to color in just the lines of the balloons coordinating with my circles in the Elegant Elements.   I layered it on a piece of Black Onyx and stamped my sentiments along the sides. 

This set is just an awesome set to have on hand for any accent to a card and will definitely be a “must have”.

I love all the images in this set and I figured there would be lots of light houses to see so I went with a bit different approach.  Using Ocean Mist as my card base, I layered on some Little Boy Blue, Lemon Drop then a layer of Kraft.  I grabbed some DP from the Pink Paislee Butterfly Garden pack and added another layer.  My image was stamped on White card stock and cut out using my Labels 7 Nestabilitie.  I added a bit of Tim Holtz Distress ink, Vintage Photo to the edges.    A little wrinkled ribbon and button finish off my card.
