GKD September Inspiration Hop Day 2

Did you enjoy the hop yesterday??? Well today the Gina K Designs Design Team is giving you even more inspiration and fun hopping along with two more of the newest September Release sets.  First up….

Theresa Momber’s – “Celebrate the Season”…

TheresaSept11

I got the inspiration for my card during the Labor Day weekend when we were at my mother-in-law’s home.  She had these very old pictures hanging on her wall that were sort of dome shaped but square.  Almost like a shadow box, if you will.  The images were silhouettes but looked as though they were painted on the actual dome and not the paper behind them.

I began with some Pure Luxury Sweet Mango card stock and layered on some Black Onyx.  Next I used a piece of DP from last month’s Stamp TV Kit, “Falling For You”.  I then took a piece of acetate and cut it just about 1/4” larger than the DP.  I used my Scor-Buddy to make the folds so that it covered over the DP.  I adhered it to the back of my DP using Scor-Tape.  Next I again grabbed the Scor Tape and adhered the entire piece, DP and acetate to the Black Onyx.  I stamped my images using Black Versamark ink.  My “boo” are stick on letters I found in my stash.

TheresaSept11A

Here’s a shot from the side so you can see the “domed” affect it made not adhering the acetate to the top of the DP.

Next up….

Tami Mayberry’s, “Home Is”…

TamiSept11A

My card started out with Pure Luxury Wine with Everything card stock.  I layered on some Sweet Mango and a piece of the DP from the same Stamp TV Kit I used making Theresa’s card above.  I used my Tim Holtz Retractable  knife to cut out the vertical opening on the front of my card.  My tree was stamped on White and I used more of that STV Kit DP to stamp the leaves (bush) for each branch then cut them and adhered them to the tree.  My sun was stamped separately and adhered using Pop Dots.  I colored the tree trunk and sun with my Copic markers. I cut the tree using the Rectangle Nestabilities and used Tim Holtz Distress Inks, Dried Marigold, to sponge on before removing the die.

TamiSept11B

This is how the card looks open.  A vertical card now becomes a horizontal card.  Smile

Now hop on over to the rest of the team to see what fabulousness they have in store for you.  Remember to leave a comment on each blog and Gina will draw for a winner to receive a stamp set of their choice valued at $24.95!

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day!! *smile*

Love the colors you chose for your cards. Thanks for teaching us, Tina. I love learning new things about card making and both of your cards taught me new things. My grandmother had domed pictures too. I'd forgotten all about that until I read your description. Thanks for reminding me.

I THOUGHT you used acetate on that not-so-spooky card Tina - cool effect! And I really like the color palette you used for your house card too, those patterned papers from the Stamp TV kit are just yummy aren't they?
