We're Friends & Family...

Hi everyone!!  It's almost Christmas and though we all have family and friends we enjoy spending time with at this time of the year, we also have family and friends that we don't see or visit with often enough but still mean just as much to us!  Us gals on the Design Team of Color Me Creative Challenge Site wanted to take a moment to send a big HUG and a special thanks to our fearless leader, Suzanne Dean.

Suzanne HAS to be the easiest and sweetest person to work with and, as many of you know from reading her blog, about the funniest too (though sometimes we ALL think she'd be better off leaving the house in bubble wrap! LOL)  *Kidding!!*

As you may have figured out, Suzanne adores the time she spends with her family and quite often shares her travels and outings with us.  So, as a little way to encourage her to continue doing what she loves best AND to keep sharing it with us... the DT would like to invite you to share in our little blog hop sharing our creations for Suzanne that remind us of family, sharing, recording memories and love.  Suzanne is a perfect example of how to share as much time as you can with those you love and to create memories that will last a lifetime for generations to come.

So here's to you, Suzanne... we love you, your crazy ways and think you are just like family to us as well.

I just think Suzanne's family would totally agree with this lovely sentiment.  And heck... this Sherri Baldy Bestie sure looks like Suzanne.  Hee Hee

Suzanne just runs circles around her family and I KNOW I'd never be able to keep up with her and all she does for them and with them.  But I must say... she's probably one of the best moms I know and I can tell you she doesn't regret one thing she does to help her family along.  I love that about her.  She amazes me every day.

Now head on over to Linda Payne's blog and enjoy the awesome project she is sharing with Suzanne.

Thanks for stopping by and we hope you have a VERY Merry Christmas and that you make all the memories and treasured times you can with your family and friends!

We love you, Suzanne and thank you for another fabulous year with the CMC DT "family"!!

HAPPY HOLIDAYS EVERYONE!!!!

CMC Holiday Bash!!!

It's that time of year again!!! Come join Color Me Creative for some fun, games and a whole lot of PRIZES!!!!  Yep.. our annual Holiday Bash is here!!  You don't want to miss out on a chance to win some fabulous prizes so hop on over to CMC Holiday Bash and join in on the fun!!!  You've got ALL MONTH to join in and play and win!!!!

Our Design Team has some awesome inspiration for you to see and we can't wait to see what you design as well!!

For my project I created a cone wreath....

My dad is a huge auction attendee and one of the "tables" he won had a ton of old sheet music!  Score!!!  (No pun intended... LOL)  Of course, with my kids and I being piano players, he ended up sending ALL of it home with me!!!  I LOVE using sheet music printed papers in my Christmas designed cards and such and I couldn't think of a better way to use this than to make a beautiful wreath with a precious angel in the middle.

My angel is from Sherry Baldy's Besties and you can find her HERE.  I used my Copics to color her up and mounted her on some tulle that sparkled along with some beautiful flowers to surround her.

Prior to adding my sweet angel I added some Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist in gold all over my papers.  I LOVE that these were old sheet music.. no distressing needed!  A few pearl flourishes and she's ready to bless our holiday season!

Again... you have a month to join in the fun so hop on over to CMC and play a game or two.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great Saturday!!! *HUGS*

A Good Ol Boy Christmas....

Good morning!!  I am not terribly thrilled to be promoting Christmas at this time of year, but... I'm happy it's not JUNE (though I'm afraid it might be some day!) and we're promoting it. LOL  But.. I admit, working with these funny three guys from Dr. Digi House of Stamps, "We Three Kings", was not at all depressing to me. Hee Hee

If you've never taken a look at Dr. Digi House of Stamps you really should stop by.  The "men" are especially funny and well... ok... might be that I'm just a woman, but omgosh I can't wait to work again with this awesome images.

My sweet men were colored with Copic markers and I printed them off on Cryogen paper which has a bit of a "sparkle" to it and that just added to the "snow" I added below.

My DP came from a "country pack" of paper and I am sorry the cover came off so I can't remember the name of it.

A little twine to finish off my "manly" effects and it's finished.  I love how this came out... now I need to find the perfect man to send it to.  Hee Hee

Thanks for stopping by and have a great Tuesday!  *HUGS*

It's Getting Close...

It's official... Fall is here!  It's chilly and wet and although I love the rain, I am not a fan of the cold.  NOR... am I fan of seeing Christmas items popping up everywhere!  But, alas, it is a commercial world and I too have to start thinking of this "end of year" event.  I have to admit I colored this image a few weeks back but just didn't have it in me to create a card with it until now.  When Patricia (the Paper Temptress) sent me an awesome pack of papers, I knew they would go perfect with my Santa image.

My image is from Sherry Baldy and you can grab your copy HERE.  I colored Santa and his visitor on Cryogen White and mounted it using pop dots.  My card base is the Mica Metallic Emerald and the white layer is also Mica Metallic in Crystal.  Now for the cozy part... the Ruche Red Cape.  LOVE LOVE this paper!!!  For me, it was the perfect texture to add to a winter card with my velvety
Santa suit beside it!  This paper also tears well so if you're like me and like the look of a ragged edge, this paper adds even more texture to the mix.

Here's a close up so you can see a bit of the shimmer in these card stocks.

Of course I colored my image with Copic markers and used my Silhouette Cameo to create the snowflakes around the image.  A little bow and some bling finished off my card.

If you haven't tried the Paper Temptress' papers yet, you really need to stop by and grab a few sample packs.  She has more textures and colors than any site I've ever been to.  AND... she carries a few ribbons and flowers as well.  I think you'll be surprised as the awesome selection!

As always, I hope you have a great Monday and I thank you for stopping by!!! *HUGS*

Besties Monochromed....

Today the Besties design team is going Monochromatic!  We hope you join us and create either a totally monochromatic card or... as I did... just do your image monochromatic.  Either is fine and we would love to see your take on the challenge.

My image is the adorable Tilda Halloween Witch and what witch shouldn't be perched up high with the moon lighting her way?  :-)

Of course, I used all my lovely "Cool Grey" Copics to color her in.  Sure she's shadowed, but she was a light shadow because that moon is soo soo bright!  But she snagged her pumpkin for the season and she's going to have it ready in time for Halloween.  Hee

Oh and just to share with you a little trick I have.  You know those small small areas you realllllly don't want to cut out of your image??? Well... find the Copic that matches your background paper... and color it up!! Yup... that area between her feet... not cut out.  I used my B28 Copic to fill it in!  Works every time!! *wink*

You can join us at the Bestie's Challenge site HERE.  Have fun with the challenge and good luck!!!

Thanks for stopping by and I hope you have a fabulous Monday!!!

Retro Fun!!!

Hi everyone!!!  I know I've been away awhile but between getting the kids ready for school and not feeling well because of my meds... AND my knees both needing injections, it's been a long month!!!  But I'm back today to share with you a new challenge over on the Color Me Creative site, "Retro Fun"!

I LOVE all things bright and so this was a fun one for me to join in and I had NO doubt which colors I'd be using! LOL

My image is from DigiMyWorld, also our sponsor the challenge, "Shagadelic".  I colored her with Copics and mounted her with Pop Dots.  A little flourish bling and some DP from my stash.

I hope you join in on our challenge.  One winner will be chosen to win a free set from DigiMyWorld and as always, we will be picking a guest design team member for our next challenge.

Have a fabulous, or should I say, SHAGADELIC Tuesday!!! *HUGS*

It's Besties Challenge Time....

Hello everyone!!  Today I'm sharing the card I created for the Besties Challenge Site.  The challenge this week is to "add an animal".  You can use any Bestie that you want and add an animal to your card or you can pick from the selection of Bestie pets.  My card today features a Big Eye Big Head Doll holding an adorable Owl!!! I couldn't resist this one... owls are so popular lately and I myself have fallen for them... especially the brightly colored ones.  ;-)

I colored her with my Copic markers and used my Spellbinder dies to cut her out and mount her onto some pastel papers I found in my stash.

I hope you take some time and play with these adorable images and definitely enter the challenge!!! Sherry always offers us lots of awesome free digis and I could NEVER grab all the ones I want OR get them all colored and completed so entering can only help YOU gain more FREE images!!

I had a great time coloring this beauty and I know I will use her again and again.  There are far to many choices to color her up in! Hee Hee

Thanks for stopping by today and make sure you take a look at what the other DT members shared and stop by and leave them some love on their blogs as well.

Have a great day!!! *HUGS*

Back to School Challenge....

Today the Paper Nest design team is showcasing their "Back to School" challenge over on their challenge blog.  I was asked to join in and use the "teacher" image.  Isn't it cute?  Reminds me of my little girl (not so little anymore... she's entering middle school at the end of this month) playing school with her stuffed friends.  LOL  But.. what's even better than a challenge... You can get this adorable for FREE!!! Yep, that's right... hurry over to the store and grab her up.. HERE!

I colored my image with Copic markers and did a little "dotting" technique on the sweet bear.  If you click on my photo you can blow it up and see it a bit better.  I love adding texture like this.. it's quick and easy to do.  Just use a couple colors and blend with a lighter color.

I did a bit distressing on the edges and added some Tim Holtz Distress Ink in "Vintage Photo".  The paper pack I used, Simple Stories, "Vintage Bliss", was perfect for a school themed card.  I love the soft colors yet vintaged look.

A few flowers and pearls and a quick label tab with a clip finish off my card.

Be sure to stop by the Paper Nest Challenge Blog and join in the fun!  The challenge runs through the 16th of August.  The winner will receive a fabulous scrapbook bundle from the store!

Thanks for stopping by today and have a fabulous time creating your "back to school" card! *HUGS*

CMC in the Pink and New DT Members!!!

Have you ever wanted PINK hair??? LOL  Well I HAVE!!!  And honestly I've wanted PURPLE hair!  Yeah... what can I say... I have a little bit of the goofy teen still in me!  And nothing wrong with that, I imagine. LOL  Especially since I haven't acted on it! LOL  BUT... I certainly have nothing stopping me when it comes to COLOR images with PINK hair!!!  AND... it certainly helped when the CMC Challenge this week was to use pink!!! Woot!!!  Head on over to the CMC Challenge site and join in on the fun!  You can use any image you want, just use lots of pink in it!!

Our sponsor this challenge is Suzanne Dean, the CMC Site itself, and she is offering up a FREE Copic class to the winner! You don't want to miss out!!  I credit ALL my Copic skills learned to Suzanne and her classes!!

My image today is a Saturated Canary, Color Me Wonderful... I certainly tried to do that!! Hee Hee I love all of the Saturated Canary images because they lend themselves to so many different arrays of coloring... antiqued, fun and soft natural coloring as well.   I used the Simple Stories, Snap Life, paper, which I adore!! It has so many fun comments and quotes on it and most often I find I don't even need a sentiment.  My background paper most often has exactly what I want to say on it.

I hope you join us for the PINK Challenge!!  Have fun and use your imagination to venture out!!!

And on that note... we, at CMC, would like to also welcome and introduce to you our newest Design Team members!!!

Christine Riley
Judy Rozema
Danni Bindel
Cathy Priessing
Carol Kruger VanderWesthuizen

Stop by and see their  awesome work!  It is a pleasure to have these girls in our group and they have some wonderful talent to share with everyone!  Welcome ladies and we all look forward to getting to know you better and, of course, enjoying your work!  *HUGS*

Thanks for stopping by and have a great Sunday!!!

The "Book" Marker....

Happy Monday everyone!!!  I'd like to share with you a book marker I made for my pen pal, Beverly.  Now, the reason I made her the book mark, isn't because we READ books together and then discuss... like "NORMAL" book clubs do, but because we share a love of our planners.  That's right, you heard me... planners.  Not just ANY planner, but Filofax planners.  And she and I met through our Filofax "cult" (as my hubby calls it... LOL).  Beverly lives in the UK and we decided to become pen pals.  Beverly has a love for antiques and all things vintage.  I couldn't help but think of her whenI grabbed this adorable image from Tiddly Inks"Aida - Gonna Miss you".  Aida comes with suit cases but I decided to perch her on top of the FREE digital  "Open Book" that is offered on Tiddly Inks web site.  ... YES I said FREE!!!

I used craft paper from Teresa Collins, "Memories" paper which I felt looked perfect as a vintage design.  My image was printed on Cryogen White and colored with Copic Sketch markers.  I cut the image and mounted them separately onto the book mark.

Before finishing up my card I made sure each edge was distressed with some Tim Holtz Distress ink pads in "Vintage Photo".  I found a piece of "aged" looking embellished sentiment plate. Here's a closer look....

MPBeverly2

Seems lots of gals in our planner group are receiving lots of flack lately about actually using a "written" scheduler instead of the tech savvy cell phones and such.  I decided this sentiment was perfect to let at least one person know, it's ok to step back and enjoy your personalized hand written notes and appointments.  I know I still keep a written journal and LOVE getting back down to paper and pen, probably more than most. LOL

I kept it a simple design because I want you to know.... not everything needs to be complicated, or flowery, or even full of die cuts or flourishes.  Sometimes... a little simple image and cute papers are enough to serve it's purpose.  Not ALL we design needs to be explosively eye catching.  Just from your heart and it's purpose is sometimes all we need.  :-)

I hope you have a wonderful week and thanks for stopping by.  I always appreciate your support! *HUGS*
