Back to School!!!

Today's the day!! The kids were excited and ready to wear their new duds as they headed out to their first day of school!  Steven... now a sophomore and heading to Lincoln High School (Main).  He was at Lincoln last year as a freshman but they had their own building a bit of a ways down the road from the main building.  So he's super excited to be at the main building with the juniors and seniors!  Emily... in her final year of elementary... 5th grade!  Her school was newly remodeled this summer and she can't wait to see all the changes they made to the inside!  We would drive by frequently as we live a block off the main street which her school is on so we go to see the exterior renovations first-hand.  But... she will be the "seniors" in the school this year and yup, it doesn't take much to get them excited just thinking about that!!  :-) Me... I'm sad they just won't stop growing.  But... I also love watching their personalities blossom and get those first glimpses of what kind of an adult they might be as they get older.  *sigh*  Time moves all to quickly, yes indeed.

Today I am sharing a card I created to go along with the Outlawz Greetings challenge to create an "ABC-123-Back to School" card!  Of course you must including a "greeting" on your card front and follow the challenge theme.

My card started off with Pure Luxury Red Hot card stock and I added a layer of Wild Dandelion.  My image is stamped on Cryogen White card stock from the Paper Temptress before coloring it with my Copic markers.  My stamp set is from Melanie Muenchinger's newest set, "Basket Addictions 3" from Gina K Designs.  The basket is from "Holiday Basket" set by Melanie as well.

I added a bit of ribbon and topped it off with a little clip I had in my stash.

Last, I'll sign off with the "2012 First Day of School" pic that I swear EVERY mother takes! LOL

Have a great Wednesday and remember... it's almost the weekend!!!  :-)  *HUGS*

Sunshine of my life...

Today I'd like to share a card I did using the newest Stamp TV Kit, "Sun-Kissed Autumn".  There are so many fun images in this set and the new Pure Luxury card stock colors are so fun to coordinate with it as well as the GK Patterned Paper Packs of the same name.

Once again I moved a little outside my "norm" and decided to go with a CAS card design and also do some more watercoloring!

My card base is Pure Luxury Lemon Drop card stock.  I stamped my image using Memento Tuxedo Black and colored it with my SU watercolor crayons.  I used one of my large Oval Nestabilties as a template to sponge around with some Memento Dandelion ink.

Simple but fun, I think.  :-)

Tomorrow will be the last day of summer vacation for my kids.  They head back to school on Wednesday.  We have been busy already with High School band camp and tonight we worked at helping the 10-12th graders get fitted for marching band uniforms.   Ugh!  Talk about hot work!!  I was taking on my dear friend Suzanne Dean's antics tonight as I got my tennis shoe all twisted around some weeds and fell in the grassy area between the school and parking lot and if that wasn't a great way to start the evening!  Pulled a calf muscle and dropped my slushie which I had JUST bought!!! My son thought it was a hoot that I fell and sat there looking sadly and moaning cause I dropped my drink!!! LOL  He was all concened about ME and I was crying over "spilled milk". LOL

Sad it sounds... I STILL have to get my kiddos their school supplies so that is on the agenda for tomorrow.  Oy vey!! Will the spending ever stop??? LOL  I think on Thursday... their first FULL day at school and MY first day at home ALONE, I may just sit and think!  Not move a muscle nor speak to anyone the whole day... until they arrive back home... just enjoying the peace and quiet! LOL  Who's with me??!!!

Thanks for stopping by today and I hope you are having a great first of the week!  *HUGS*

It's a CHILL Day....

Yesterday was a TOTAL "chill" day for me!!! It was my birthday and as per tradition in our family, I had dinner MADE for me.  My menu!!!  Woot!!  I love that but what I don't love is trying to figure out what I want. LOL  It was a great day though and the boss gave me the afternoon off!  Yayyy!!!

My card today was created using adorable "Popsicle Marci" from La-La Land Crafts.  I loveeee me some popsicles!!!  My card was created using Pure Luxury Ocean Mist layered with some Green Apple and a couple different DP's I found in my stash!  My sweet Marci was stamped on Cryogen White card stock from the Paper Temptress and colored with Copic markers.  I LOVE using Cryogen to color with Copics! I cut her out before using Pop Dots to mount her to my card. My sun die is also from La-La Land Crafts.

A little lace and bakers trime on the bow and a few placed flowersfinish off my card.

I hope you had a fabulous weekend and I appreciate your stopping by!!

Have a great Monday! *HUGS*

First up..... "Sun Kissed Autumn STV Kit" by Gina K Designs...

I just love all the wonderful Fall images in the new Stamp TV set and... they are even more fabulous when you team them up with the awesome GK Patterned Paper Pack of the same name.  LOVE it!!

My card base is Pure Luxury Sweet Corn.  I used Becky Oehlers', "American Made" for a background stamp and used an embossing folder on the bottom half.  I stamped the trees on the new Honey Mustard card stock then paper pieced the tops using the same Patterned Paper Pack.

The leaves in this set are soooo pretty and I had a hard time deciding which I wanted to use on my card! ;-)

My card base is yet another new Pure Luxury color, Tomato Soup.  I am so diggin the new Fall card stock colors!!  I added a few pieces of the Dark Chocolate card stock and more of that wonderful Patterned Paper.  I stamped my leaves on the Honey Mustard using the "rolled stamp" technique to color the edges a bit different.  A little twine for even more of a Fall look and a single button finish off my card.

Now enjoy some more inspiration from the rest of the Design Team...

Gina K Designs July Inspiration Hop Day 2

I HAD to do a play on the words in this set.  Hee  So yep... there's a "bright side" to it all which worked perfectly for a gate-fold card.

I used Pure Luxury Turquoise Sea card stock as my base.  AND... if you use the fabulous Scor-Buddy, you no longer have to guess where to scor your card for a gate-fold.... I love that!!  My DP is from the GK Patterned Paper Pack, "Hello Sunshine".  I paper pieced the shade to make my "bright side" even brighter!  :-)

When I opened Becky's set I was totally surprised to notice the little row of stars she included in her stamps!!  But... I didn't want to go with a traditional "patriotic" card so I decided to make mine into a card for my daughter's new teacher.  Their school colors are red, white and blue so this worked out perfectly for me!

My card base is Pure Luxury Heavy Base Weight White and I stamped the "rays" in red then added the blue stars in between.  I added the sentiment in white ink and then looped my ribbon to resemble the red rays as well.  One of the things I LOVE about the new Clear Gina K stamps is how easy it is to line them up for stamps sets such as this.  No guessing if you have to stamp it over and over to get the sentiments in just the right place and wasting paper.  LOVE LOVE it!!!

And last but not least.... "Stippled Nature" by Beth Silaika...

I couldn't help but think of the borders it seemed everyone use to have in their kitchens back when stippling was new and the thing to use in your home decor.  This would be a perfect set to make a gift set of cards for someone!

I used Pure Luxury Kraft for my card bases.  I stamped my images and then drew in my borders using a small t-square and pencil.  (A little note... if you're stamping with a ink that takes a bit to dry... do your border first so as now to smear the image in the middle.  I almost had a huge smear but caught myself in time!)  I really didn't worry that all my squares were perfectly even.. that IS the beauty of "hand made" right??? I drew them all in pencil then went back with my Memento markers and colored them in.  The nice thing about the Memento markers is they have a fine point and a brush point and it was easy to outline each square then go back and fill them in with the brush end.  Once I finished I erased the pencil marks.  Surprisingly, this design did NOT take me a lot of time.  You'd think drawing all the squares then coloring them might be time consuming and painstaking but trust me... I have been dealing with swollen legs lately and didn't want to set at my desk long so I was thrilled at how quick this really turned out being.

Now enjoy the rest of the inspiration by the Design Team....

Gina K Designs July Inspiration Hop

First up.....

I'm so much of a "literal" kind of girl sometimes and when I see the "basket" word, I think "ok... this NEEDS to be used with a basket"!  But noooo.. not this time!! This time I decided I can do this WITHOUT "following the rules". Hee

I used Pure Luxury Sweet Mango card stock for my base and added a small layer of Wild Dandelion.  I stamped the Halloween "basket topper" and used my Kooh-i-noor pencils to color the image and some OMS to blend out the colors a bit.  I love that the card LOOKS Halloween but with a little message of love so even my dear hubby can have a small "treat" this year when the kids head off trick or treating.  ;-)

I decided to go "outside the box" again with this card using Theresa's set.  This time I went for a single layer card but.. I water colored my image.  I haven't done that for quite some time and I forget that using water colors is such a nice "forgiving" technique.  If you add to much color, you can correct it so easily with just a bit more water!  I thought the bridge would look even more "distressed" and older if I water colored it as well.  ;-)

My card base is Pure Luxury Heavy Base Weight White.  I stamped my image using Memento Tuxedo Black before water coloring it.  I really like how it came out and I think every image in Theresa's set can easily be water colored for a nice "set" of cards to package up as a gift!

Now check out all the amazing designs and inspiration from the rest of the Design Team:

Card Position Systems Challenge

Have you ever played along with Card Positioning Systems challenges??? I was the featured artist for the challenge a couple weeks ago and I have to say... of all the challenges you can do, these are probably some of my favorites!  I mean seriously, the layout is there... all you have to do is put the card together using the supplies you like!!  Easy Peasy!!!

For my card I used Pure Luxury Heavy Base Weight White as my base and used some Ocean Mist as my "tab" area of the card and Blue Raspberry as the layer under my DP which I found in my stash.  My image came from Melanie Muenchinger's set, "Stately Flowers 1".  My circles and sentiments came from Becky Oehlers' set, "I Do!".  My flowers were colored with Copic markers.  I used the SVG files to layer them up with more Blue Raspberry which I added some Stardust Stickles to around the edges for a little more bling.  I sponged some Memento Bahama Blue ink around my circles and used Pop Dots to give them some lift.  I added some self-adhesive pearls on the right tab which I colored with my copics to match my card colors.   I LOVE doing that!!

I hope you hop on over to CPS Blog and play along.  Like I said, the decision making of HOW to lay out your card is all done for you... just add your stamps and personal touch!!  Have fun!!!

Thanks for stopping by today and have a great Thursday!!! *HUGS*

"Rubber Ducky, you're the one...."

Yup... I so love Kermit... hee hee.  He IS a frog and I like all froggies!!  And rubber duckies. LOL  Today I wanted to share yet another image I used from La-La Land Crafts Summer CHA Release called. "Bath Time Marci".  Isn't she adorable with her little rubber ducky?  Hee

For my card base I used the Papertrey Ink Melon Berry.  I layered on some Pure Luxury Lemon Drop.  Sweet Marci was colored with Copic markers and cut out and adhered with Pop Dots.  My "wall and floor" of her girly bathroom was done using a Scor-Pal  and heat embossing technique.  (I wanted to add the tutorial below, but blogger won't let me.  I'll post it over at the CMC site and let you know when it's up.)

Of course I added some lace as shower and/or window curtains and a few little flowers as well.  Hee  I hope you enjoy the tutorial and give it a try. I really love using it in scenes like this or on an indoor pool scene.

Have a great day and thanks for stopping by!!!  *HUGS*

Ahhhh the Sun Rays...

Have you had a chance to play with the Color Me Creative bi-weekly challenges lately??? Well if you haven't, you should play along this week!!  The challenge is all about backgrounds!!  Today I used a a fabulous technique shared by Gina K on Stamp TV making sun rays.  You can see this technique HERE.  Our sponsor for this challenge is Squigglefly

I started my card with Pure Luxury Ocean Mist card stock.  I layered it with some Lemon Drop and added my sun rays by using Memento Wild Dandelion and some Bahama Blue for my ocean.  I tore a piece of Sandy Beach and used some Tim Holtz Distress Ink, Vintage Photo, to accent the shore line.

My image was colored with Copic markers and I used Pop Dots to adhere it to the card for a bit of dimension.

I hope you play along... there's always prizes to be had and a chance to be a guest designer for our next challenge!!!

Have a great day... I'm heading out with my mom to get my son his school clothes.  Oy!  I hate doing that but... I'm VERY lucky in that my parents always take my kids to buy them their school clothes.  What a HUGE help that is!!!  I thank God they are always so helpful with the kids at this time of year... seems to never get cheaper!!

As always... I appreciate your stopping by and love reading your comments!!  *HUGS*

P.S.  I apologize for not having a pic of the Copics I used on this as I was visiting my friend, Lee Murphy, on her FABULOUS mountain home and my routine was not the norm.  But, never fear, I'm back in the swing.  ;-)

La-La Land Amusement...

Good morning!!!  I'm FINALLY ... sorta ... kinda ... ready to start working again. Hee Hee  Vacation sure makes it hard to get back in the routine, doesn't it?  But as they say, "the show must go on"... right?  Soooo I'll start back with a little "amusement" fun!  My card today features one of the newly CHA Summer Release stamps from La-La Land Crafts, "Carousel Seahorse".  I just LOVE it!!!

Of course you know me... gotta use those bright fabulous colors and this image required no less of me! Hee Hee

I started off with some Pure Luxury Wild Dandelion Card Stock for my base.  I added a layer of Key Lime Layering Weight and my DP from my stash.  I colored my seahorse with Copic markers and added some self-adhesive pearls which I also colored with my Copics.  I always loved all the lights surrounding the carousels when I was a kid and thought the pearls reminded me of them.  Hee

A few little flowers to border the bottom of the carousel and we're set. Ha!

Of course by now you know Irina has a fabulous SVG file you can purchase for the Silhouette Cameo machine to cut out a fabulous 3D carousel as well HERE.

Hope you have a great Monday!  I'm slowly but surely getting back into the swing of things.  It sure takes a lot to come back and resume "normal" life after a vacation.  And trust me...I soooo needed some time off to chill and let the stress evaporate a bit.  :-)

Oh and I have NEW STAMPS in the house!! Woot!! Stay tuned for more info on that soon! *HUGS*
