This year my son's birthday fell on Father's Day. He didn't mind because we held a simple little birthday party for him after having dinner with my dad and hubby at my parent's house. Though he's a good kid, I'm sure he would have postponed celebrating his day until today, there was plenty of time to celebrate both of them! :-)
My card was made for my father, no doubt. He has always been a fisherman and I loved this image from La-La Land Crafts, "Fisherman Luka" because he happens to be holding a cane pole! The exact kind of pole my dad first took me fishing with! :-) And as the memories flood back...what's better than the fact that when he DID take me fishing, I always out-fished him. Ha!!! My very first fish was so tiny yet I made him take it home, clean and it and my mom cooked it for me for dinner. Woot! LOL OMGosh I couldn't have been more than a couple years old... yet I remember very vividly eating that fish and even where we lived at the time. Ha! (They tell me I have a VERY good memory of life when I was little... wonder why I can't remember what I ate yesterday??? LOL)
My card base is Pure Luxury Sandy Beach layered with GK Patterned Paper, Pool Side which I distressed and added some Tim Holtz Distress Ink, "Vintage Photo". I added some Dark Chocolate and layered one a piece of White which I colored with my Brayer using Memento Summer Sky . I sponged on some Paris Dusk for the horizon and some Cottage Ivy as my little grassy area Luka fished on. :-) The sign I drew myself and colored, along with Luka, using my Copic markers. I added a couple self-adhesive nailheads to the sign and popped up Luka using Pop Dots. The little pebbles are some I bought quite awhile back and have only a few left. :-(
Of course I made my son a card but it was one I had done quite some time ago and was saving to give to him so it's been on my blog before.
Everyone had a great time and grilling out on a lovely day, hanging with friends and family was a great way to end the weekend.
I trust you spoiled your dads/husbands as well and also shared another day of memories. As always, thanks for stopping by and have a fabulous Monday!!! *HUGS*
