CMC Holiday Bash!!!

It's that time of year again!!! Come join Color Me Creative for some fun, games and a whole lot of PRIZES!!!!  Yep.. our annual Holiday Bash is here!!  You don't want to miss out on a chance to win some fabulous prizes so hop on over to CMC Holiday Bash and join in on the fun!!!  You've got ALL MONTH to join in and play and win!!!!

Our Design Team has some awesome inspiration for you to see and we can't wait to see what you design as well!!

For my project I created a cone wreath....

My dad is a huge auction attendee and one of the "tables" he won had a ton of old sheet music!  Score!!!  (No pun intended... LOL)  Of course, with my kids and I being piano players, he ended up sending ALL of it home with me!!!  I LOVE using sheet music printed papers in my Christmas designed cards and such and I couldn't think of a better way to use this than to make a beautiful wreath with a precious angel in the middle.

My angel is from Sherry Baldy's Besties and you can find her HERE.  I used my Copics to color her up and mounted her on some tulle that sparkled along with some beautiful flowers to surround her.

Prior to adding my sweet angel I added some Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist in gold all over my papers.  I LOVE that these were old sheet music.. no distressing needed!  A few pearl flourishes and she's ready to bless our holiday season!

Again... you have a month to join in the fun so hop on over to CMC and play a game or two.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great Saturday!!! *HUGS*

Besties Monochromed....

Today the Besties design team is going Monochromatic!  We hope you join us and create either a totally monochromatic card or... as I did... just do your image monochromatic.  Either is fine and we would love to see your take on the challenge.

My image is the adorable Tilda Halloween Witch and what witch shouldn't be perched up high with the moon lighting her way?  :-)

Of course, I used all my lovely "Cool Grey" Copics to color her in.  Sure she's shadowed, but she was a light shadow because that moon is soo soo bright!  But she snagged her pumpkin for the season and she's going to have it ready in time for Halloween.  Hee

Oh and just to share with you a little trick I have.  You know those small small areas you realllllly don't want to cut out of your image??? Well... find the Copic that matches your background paper... and color it up!! Yup... that area between her feet... not cut out.  I used my B28 Copic to fill it in!  Works every time!! *wink*

You can join us at the Bestie's Challenge site HERE.  Have fun with the challenge and good luck!!!

Thanks for stopping by and I hope you have a fabulous Monday!!!

It's Besties Challenge Time....

Hello everyone!!  Today I'm sharing the card I created for the Besties Challenge Site.  The challenge this week is to "add an animal".  You can use any Bestie that you want and add an animal to your card or you can pick from the selection of Bestie pets.  My card today features a Big Eye Big Head Doll holding an adorable Owl!!! I couldn't resist this one... owls are so popular lately and I myself have fallen for them... especially the brightly colored ones.  ;-)

I colored her with my Copic markers and used my Spellbinder dies to cut her out and mount her onto some pastel papers I found in my stash.

I hope you take some time and play with these adorable images and definitely enter the challenge!!! Sherry always offers us lots of awesome free digis and I could NEVER grab all the ones I want OR get them all colored and completed so entering can only help YOU gain more FREE images!!

I had a great time coloring this beauty and I know I will use her again and again.  There are far to many choices to color her up in! Hee Hee

Thanks for stopping by today and make sure you take a look at what the other DT members shared and stop by and leave them some love on their blogs as well.

Have a great day!!! *HUGS*

Shhhhhrrrrrriiiiiinnkkkk It!

Do you remember these???? Shrinky Dinks?? Ha!  OMGosh I hadn't thought of these in YEARS!! (Ok wait... not THAT many years!!! ;-)  )  But seriously... have you tried stamping on them???  Talk about FUN!!!  Even my daughter had to get in on the act.  And of course, it's not even so much about the coloring or stamping for her.. it was more about WATCHING it shrink!!!  I could color blocks all day just to sit and watch them go down in size.  My project today serve two areas... 1) I had been dying to mess with these since I found them... and 2) I REALLY wanted something special and handmade I could give to my fellow planner friends as a RAK (random act of kindness).  Ta Dah!!!  Enter  the Shrinky Dinks!!!

THIS is where my Shrinky Dink ended up!!  I took this adorable Sherri Baldy image, "Princess Sparkle" and made her into a cute page marker that I could send off to my friends.  Soooo fun!!!  I can't wait to hear how they like them!!!  Here's how this fun Shrinky Dinks work....

MPShrink2

The come in a pretty thick sheet and my pack came with some creme color sheets, brown and black sheets.  I took a clear which when you pick it up you realize, one side is rough and frosted.  Basically, sanded for you ahead of time so your colors, stamped image, etc. adhere to it well.

MPShrink3

I stamped my image using Memento Tuxedo Black ink and let it sit for about  five minutes before beginning to color it in.
MPShrink4

Now don't worry so much about how light it appears when you color it.  I used my Copic Sketch markers to fill in my image.  As you can see below.. I added some pretty bright colors but because of the frosted rough side, it doesn't look so bright.  Wait for it...  Next I cut the image out pretty close to the lines.

MPShrink5

And THIS is how she comes out of the oven.  WAY brighter than you expected, right?   As you can see, it's possible to do some shading but honestly, it's a bit tough to do, as you can see in my hair.  I definitely highlighted it but since things "scrunch" up so much in the shrinking process, it's kind of hard to keep the colors separated.
Here you can see the difference in size (my daughter stamped one to color and it's not perfect, but she didn't care. Ha!)

I glued the large style paper clip to the back and it's done!  Ready for your pages, or your planner.  I've already done an adorable frog for myself and I can't wait to make more personal paper clips for all my friends.  You can make earrings, necklaces and brooches as well with these fun sheets. Give it a try.  I bet you'll become addicted.
Thanks for stopping by today and remember to stop back tomorrow for even more inspiration from the Design Team!  Have a fabulous Saturday!  *HUGS*

Dot to Dot....

Happy Tuesday everyone!!!  It was a very long time ago that I did this cute little image from Sherry Baldy Besties which I was lucky enough to name... "Dot to Dot".  :-)

I printed her off on Cryogen White from the Paper Temptress and colored her with two of my favorite colors using my Copic markers.  I distressed the edges of my image and added some ink around the edges to highlight her a bit more.

I added a "friend" definition stamp under one of Tim Holtz Fragments as my sentiment.  I'm sorry I don't remember where it came from... I know I won it but for the life of me can't remember from where.  Ugh!

A little lace, some pearl flourish bling and a nice bundle of flowers for my sweet ladybug friend to rest on finish off my card.

I hope you are having a fabulous summer and that the ladybugs are flying free around your neighborhood.  It is always good to have a "few" bugs that are fun to see, right?  :-)

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day!!! *HUGS*

No Limits Friendship...

ptmonday

Happy Monday everyone!!!  Today I'm sharing an easel card I made showcasing the Vellum paper from the Paper Temptress.  I LOVE playing with Vellum and when I saw Sherri Baldy's Asian Besty, I KNEW it would be perfect for making a fan to be a backdrop for my image.  It was perfect to score and so easy to fold.

I stamped it with a few flower images and some butterflies from Theresa Momber's set, "Whimsical Spring".  And I let it THOROUGHLY dry before even attempting to fold the paper.  I used my Copic markers to color in the leaves and flowers and the branches and they worked beautifully on the vellum.

Before scoring my Vellum I added a thin line of Scor Tape to the edge and then sprinkled it with some black glitter.  LOVE it!!  I punched a hole in the bottom and added an eyelet along with some twine that I used to make a tassle at the end.  I used some liquid glue to attach the vellum to my card and since it dried clear, it made no noticeable markings on the Vellum.

I also used the gold from the Laser Lustre pack to border out my black card stock and also to punch a strip for the inside of my card.

Here's another view of the card so you can see how I folded the easel.

I hope you give the Vellum a try.. it REALLY is fun to work with and not only does it fold well, but it tears well AND does a fabulous job on the printer!!  Oh and... I have made this for an adorable new friend I've made who lives in Thailand.  She is just adorable, though we've never met, I can't wait to send this to her.  Now I hope you realize this DOES stick up on the card quite a bit but I plan to make a pretty box to put it safely in before mailing her way.  :-)

That's it for me today.  Have a GREAT week and thanks for stopping by!!! *HUGS*

He Makes our House a Home....

Hi everyone!! It's another beautiful day for a fabulous Sherri Baldy Bestie, right?  Ok wait.. what day isn't????!!!!!  ;-)

Today I couldn't help but look at this Big Eyed sweetness and be reminded of how my darling hubby tells me the first thing he fell in love with were my eyes.  LOL  Ok... I kinda think that's funny.  I mean seriously.. BROWN eyes??? Ya... I always wanted blue!!! LOL

I decided to make this card for him as "MY" little token of how he's a fabulous father this Father's Day.  Normally, my kids find an image and ask me to make him a card for them so I thought it was time I pick one from me.  :-)

My image is colored with Copic markers and I cut her out before adhering her to my card.  I decided on the designer paper because of the house on it and had already written my sentiment and printed it out on my printer.  It's from Webster's Pages, "New Beginnings"... love this Eastery paper.  Love the pastels!  The little "rug" I have her sitting on was made using fabric tape and I added it to a piece of card stock to give it some thickness then used my scissors to shred the edges and make fringe on my rug.

Sherri's image are so much fun to color and I find every time I sit down, I want to do another as soon as I finish one.  But, I'd never get cards put together and my Copics would surely run out of ink quicker than I could order ALL the refills! Ha!

If you are new to Sherri's images, I am sure you will find just about anything to "tell your story" or fit the occasion.  I think Sherri has a magic elf living in her studio at night because she cranks one after the other out!  But, it truly is awesome to have such a huge selection and from someone who creates the cutest images around!

Thanks for stopping by today and stay tuned, there are bound to be more of these Besties that will find their way to a card and not just colored on my desk.  ;-)  Have a great day!!! *HUGS*

Book Buddies....

Hi everyone!! I'm so honored to be Guest Designing for Sherri Baldys My Besties today!!  Sherri's images won my heart from the very start.  They are just the cutest and so much fun to work with!!!  Today I got to play with "Bookworm" and I decided to make her for a sweet friend who I met SORT of through a book... a Filofax planner.  Does that count? LOL  I decided to go with an easel card layout.

I colored this cute Bestie with Copics and a ShinHan Touch Twin Brush marker.  Though it's a bit hard to see, I added some Crystal Lacquer to the glasses to make them shine!  I added some Tim Holtz Distressed Ink, "Antique Linen" around the edges before mounting her onto my card.

The papers I used were Teresa Collins, "Memories" which I couldn't resist using a "calendar" print for my background. ;-)

For my sentiment, I simply used a definition stamp and added it to the inside of my card raised up a bit with Pop Dots so as to hold the top of the card at an easel angle.

A few paper roses from Prima and a couple Marianne's Dies accent my card.  I added just a few self-adhesive pearls to the top for a bit more balance.

I am so happy to be designing for Sherri... she's not only SUPER talented, but as sweet as her images!!!  I'm sure you'll see many more of my designs using My Besties.  I mean, truly, can YOU resist them??? *wink*

Thanks for stopping by today and have a wonderful day!! *HUGS*

It's Someone's..... Birthday!!!!

Do you know this beautiful person????

Oh wait... ooops...wrong one.   Sorry.  Do you know THIS beautiful person????

Arrrrghhhh... that's NOT her!!!!  Wait wait... let's get this right!!!!  Do you know HER?????

THAT'S her!!!!!!! YES!!!  The BIRTHDAY GIRL!!!!!  Oh and honestly... yeah... those pics above... yep... those REALLY are her too!!! If you know Suzanne J. Dean... you KNOW this!!

Today is Suzanne's birthday and well, we ALL KNOW, Suzanne would NOT want to celebrate a birthday any other way than with her favorite country star AND a favorite sports star!!!  Right???!!!

Today, Suzanne's, Color Me Creative Design Team wanted to take a little of her time to show her how much we enjoy, appreciate and love her by hopping along to share a little birthday fun and creativity with her.  Join us in wishing her that the next year is filled with even more memories and love than anyone could ever hope for!

The design team went with a "Teal/Aqua" theme today.  Suzanne had mentioned her desire to "look like a mermaid"... LOL... so heck, we'll play along.  (Old age is old age, peeps... just smile and say... "that's nice, honey." LOL)

My card today uses a Sherri Baldy image... isn't she adorable?? I LOVE all things dealing with rain, umbrellas and spring and this image fit the ticket!!!  I have to admit... I'm being a little brat using this for Suzanne's card because I KNOW how much she thinks I'm nutters for loving rain.  Hee Hee  But... then too, I think an umbrella does just what it's suppose to.. protect you.  And so I'll get a bit "mushy" here, ok? ;-)

Since I'm Suzanne's DT Coordinator, I admit.  I feel a bit "protective" of her and as often as I can, I like to think I'm helping to keep her sanity in check from time to time.  Being miles apart isn't always easy when you want to do all you can to help someone and so I do what I can to, hopefully, lessen some of her work load.  I hope she knows I am always here for her even if just to have someone to complain to at 2:00 AM when you need to unload your mind and end the day.

I can think of very few who have done so much to help me improve in my crafting abilities and to attain the few goals I've had in my crafting career and Suzanne is one of them.  I cannot begin to tell you how much more I enjoy using my Copics and I TRULY can attest to how much I learned in her Copic classes.

But more than anything else... I believe I have found a fabulous friend for life.  Suzanne and I joke that sometimes we could be sisters.  Ya... we kinda have that same sick sense of humor.  LOL  But I will NOT claim to having any of  the "accident-prone" Suzanne in my blood!! Ha!! And I am sure the world is soooo happy that we aren't together near as much as we think we'd like to be at times! LMBO  Oh lord... we'd be kicked out of every town in the country, I'm sure!!  We've laughed together, complained together, whined and yelled together and I'm sure we've ran away from home a few times together too! ;-)  And... I can honestly say, even if it's only by way of texting, we have had some truly fabulous fun together!  That's what friends do, right?  Stay close even when they're miles apart.

So, my friend, I hope your day is fabulous and I hope that you have lots of wonderful memories to last a lifetime.  *BIG HUGS*

Now hop along with us to enjoy more of the Design Team's creations for Suzanne.

Thanks for sharing Suzanne's day with us!!  We KNOW you all love her as much as we do and we couldn't be happier to be working with such an awesome lady!!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, SUZANNE!!!!!
*HUGS*
